Heard of Shane King also. I think from memory he came home in 95, the year the Blue Jays won the world series. Not sure if he was sent packing or decided he wanted to come home. I don't think he saw much big league action but was a super talent and could have easily seen plenty action at a lesser club.

King really was phenomenal, the sort of talent you have to see for yourself otherwise people think you're exagerating.
Was lucky enough to learn from and be able to speak to the great man for a week about 10 years ago and when I asked him about his Blue Jays experience, he basically said it was because he had two young kids at home and he'd already been playing in the semipro/pro leagues (the best there is) in the US for four or five years as it was - in other words he hadn't been home bugger all.

Na different fella.
Jamie is Glenelgs Div 1 first baseman and absolute champion bloke.
I believe he's getting married this weekend too. (or it might have been last weekend not sure)
Looks like all the late night sesions at the GBC bar will be a thing of the past now for Jamie!

Nick Prokopec (who played for Elizabeth Football Club as a junior) is the nephew of Ken Prokopec, therefore cousin of Luke who played major league and is now at a baseball academy in Qld.

Luke has two other brothers Lars and Ace, who are also very talented. Ace is about 17 and has played at state junior level and has, I believe, been looked at by American clubs. He was last year's Riverland junior sportsperson of the year.

The whole family is baseball mad. The mother is Renmark's scorer and I think has played A grade, as has daughter Alice, who is currently a photographer at the Tiser.

Anything else you want to know boys?

I'm expecting we will see Lars, Ace and Ken suiting up for the Riverland this weekend. I'm hoping they are all Power supporters and have tickets to the GF.
Might be our only chance against them.

Haloman, you wouldn't be a nuggety middle infielder that bats left handed, that got told by the A grade coach at his 1st training down at the GBC, to tuck his shirt in, if he wanted to play for the bays??

From the body of the same name.
Greeny also told me unless I beat him on the pier run in pre season I'd never play higher than Div 3. It goes with out saying I never beat him.
I'm impressed with your inside knowledge jayjake, obviously a bay boy, I'm wondering if you know how Klodes wedding went on Sunday, Perfect weather for the occasion and I'm guessing you were there.
(Perhaps in it!!!!!)

I figured it had to be either you (Jayden and jacob = Jayjake) or Klodes.
I'm suprised a bloke of your age could remember something that happened that long ago. PM your email Jayjake and I'll send you a couple of photo's of the boys and the new diamond over here in Lincoln.
Could have used a decent DH on the weekend Jayjake, lucky you didn't turn up on Saturday.

We enjoyed the trip Dermie..........enough said. I spent most of the weekend tired and sleepless.............some monster sleeping in the next room snored like a chainsaw every bloody night.
1 win against the Riverland boys was better than coming away empty handed I suppose. :(
Mount Gambier and Sunraysia far to strong for our lads. Great to see Sunraysia knock off the Mount in the final. They snuck over the line 3-2 with all three runs coming from perfectly executed squeeze bunts. That old school s**t works a treat when done well, Mount Gambier had no answer.
The Lower Eyre season kicks off a fortnight from tomorrow with a Grand Final rematch between North Shields Tigers and Saints. The other game see's Coyotes take on Indians in the first match for premiership points on the new diamond at the Ravendale Sporting Complex. Hopefully the clubrooms will be completed in time but I'm not holding my breath.

Haloman,

Round 1 over - GBC Div down to the tribe, new import apparently stuck one out against Fidge, so not a bad debut. Div 2 had better fortunes winning 6-3. As for us old farts in the 3's we dusted ourselves from a heartbreaker against Broken Hill in the morning masters games to touch up Woodville 16-2, all played well, only downside was to see Patty take an up and in fast ball to the face. Div 3 Tigers down 6-1 to Redsox, and Div 4 courtesy of a complete game and a couple of big bombs from Crash Kryjania won comfortably against Woodville also

Cheers
El

hope Patty is OK and good to hear you lads still possess the Tigers fighting spirit. Lost to Broken Hill????????? So Broken Hill can send down a masters team but can't be bothered sending down a senior team for the country champs the previous week. :?
What's Crash doing playing fours? Would have thought 3's at a minimum for the big fella. Still 2 weeks away from kick off here. All clubs still stuggling for numbers with Shields probably the only club assured of have 18 blokes for the 2 senior sides required. Looks like another season of playing 2 games each night. :(

Crash is coaching the 4's, still played in the 3's for us as well. Like you guys we are struggling for numbers at the moment. Did Mt Gambier play in the CC last week, as we played a team from Mt Gambier in the masters today.

Beaten in the final by Sunraysia 3-2.

Dermie,

The GBC Div 6 took away the bronze medal in the over 45's

The G-Force over 35's, we finished 5th I think, as we won only 3 games albeit, we beat the teams we wanted to (Rams, Adelaide Aces & Eagles). The Saints (Geelong) beat KAOS in the gold medal game in our division.

Haloman,

GBC Div 2 7-0 winners over the Eagles today, Div 3, yesterday we snatched a 6 all draw against the Eagles also, not sure how the 1's went. Who is your season opener against this week.

Our 4's had the water bag trip out to Gawler, who now have a couple of teams in the lower grades.
