In the NL the Cards easily disposed of Houston and Atlanta led Philly 3-2 in 9th, Philly levelled and then won it in 13th innings to send the Cards into WC spot.
In the AL the Yankees led 7-0 in the 8th and the Sox were leading 3-2 in the 9th so it looked like Boston would go through but in an amazing twist the Rays levelled at 7-7 with the Yankees and then won it in the 12th innings, at around the same time Baltimore were 2 men out bottom of the 9th trailing 2-3 and went on to win it 4-3 so Tampa go into WC and Boston gone

Dan Johnson - who hit the tying run in the 9th for Tampa Bay - was only batting .108 when he stepped up to the plate. Don't know what the Rays are going to do in the postseason with Desmond Jennings in the leadoff spot as he is struggling mightily at the moment - don't think he's had a hit in his last 30 odd at bats.
It sounds like White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen is about to become the manager of the Florida Marlins.

I reckon this whole thing was a set up to keep the Red Sox out of it. Look at Boston's record against the Yankees this season. They were sh!tting themselves at the thought of Boston going through. Tampa Bay don't deserve to be there at all so I hope they fail dismally. Go the Phillies or Texas I reckon - and a pox on NYY!

Not true SP, yes Boston had a 12-6 record against the Yankees but Boston went 6-12 against Tampa. Boston lost 18 of their last 24 games so dont deserve to make the playoffs.
FWIW i think Detroit will win the AL and play Milwaukee in the World Series.

What about Adrian Beltre hitting 3 home runs in the game for Texas to join a club that only includes 6 other people for achieving the feat in a playoff game in the history of Major League Baseball.

On paper you would think so but over the last few months ive not been impressed with the Yankees form, came into playoffs in ordinary shape and the pitchers form worried me.
Id imagine a big trade period coming up, too many guys getting a go because of their reputation. A- Rod for one has been terrible over the home stretch and was useless in the playoffs
