Does look to be laboring out there, but would expect him to work back into this. Ferrer is no slouch, despite a generally poor record against Nadal.

Nadal has already taken an injury time out. I hope its just a niggle and he can fight through it

Obviously the channel 7 footage is behind. Just started to watch it now and it is only 3-2 in the 2nd set...

Most of his key indicators aren't too bad - apart from winners. Down 35-14 at present. Also getting mauled on second serve, winning only 30% - way down on normal. One of the bigger shocks for a while unfolding.

Nadal out in straight sets.
Oh well gives someone else a chance.
Hopefully he gets over his injury and wins the next 3 slams.
Give the title to federer now.

Rafa is all class.

Obviously hampered by injury, he gave his opponent full respect and played the match out knowing it was hopeless.

His post match interview showed why he is such a champion. He refused to take anything away from Ferrer in victory.

Well done Rafa.

Nadal and Federer are always class when they lose. Probably helps they lose fairly rarely, but still they always fight it out, give credit to the opponent but give you the feeling that while they know they were beaten on the day they think they can get it done next time.

IMHO, both Federer and Nadal need the other to validate their place in history. Hewitt had to beat nobody to be #1 but these guys had an all time great to fight off more or less every step of the way.

Well said Graham ... I suspect you are right about those two needing each other.

I'll always remember how disappointed McEnroe was when Borg retired after he beat him at Wimbledon ...
