Most perplexing umpiring decision of the year could very well go to Wristy after last night. Still thumbing the rulebook trying to find where it stipulates "no lying".
If they have an award for most prepared then surely the player from Rosewater last night is a chance. Was there before the kick off of the 645 game and wasnt scheduled to play until the last game at 845.

Yes good to see Wristy incorporating life rules into his juridcition as a referee! Last night i received a yellow card for "coveting thy neighbours wife"...

Andy 'the Alpha male" Andrews was there at 6.25 and was in boots and stretching by 6.35. In his defence he did have a cracker and is always a pleasure to ref. :D
Last night also marked the return of dual Australasian Champion Tom "Dick Doodle" Houston to the fold. Another great story of a multi talented sports/entertainer who has had sucess in both the unpredictable worlds of Gaelic Football and Pro Wrestling.

No it was definitely Andy. He always comes into the bar and says Gday before the first game. To the young fellas credit, he has scored in his last 3 starts as well.

This week we see the rescheduled WI v Flinders game appear with an unusually early kick off. Disappointingly last weeks weather related results has now closed the door on the Flinders boys chances of making the Div1 finals. So much potential but so little to show as the Flinders boys best can match any side in the 4. Good chance for them to rebound this week with the goats to be disturbed earlier than usual from eating their cavier at the round table. On the flip side the top 4 really is interesting with the goats requiring a win to grab 2nd and the double chance. A loss here and the race for 2nd will only be decided on the last minor round sunday. Unsure now of which of the Flinders boys may show and so expect the WI boys to win by 6-10pts.

Just casting my eye over the ladies comp and we see the Onkas juggernaut roll over into the womens side. Lauren's ladies undefeated and sitting pretty at the moment under the guidance of Wado. The two Irish sides of the Blues and Rovers will fight out for the double chance with goal difference probably the deciding factor. NaFianna round out the four with WI and Flinders improving but their inexperience making them unable to match the top 4 at this stage. For this round

NaFianna take on the Blues with many a good battle between these sides in the leagues recent history. NaFianna are learning to adjust to life without Almena which is like Port without Tredders and while able to challenge for most of a game haven't the finishing touches to get over the top 3. The blues when everyone is available have one of the most complete team lists in the comp and super coach TommyG is hoping the next month sees names like Smith, Dawes, Fitzy, White and Clark all play week in week out. Expect the blues to win by 6-10pts.

Onkas will easily account for Flinders. The depth of the Onkas teams with a full list and 6 on the bench allows many rotations and coach Wado has been experimenting in recent weeks. Lady Liz, Lauren, Chook and a host of others with state experience will prove to strong.

Rovers to also account for WI relatively easily. Rovers struggled for numbers earlier in the year but now have most of their list on the park. They use the long kick into the forward lines well and are able to turn defences around and score quickly and unders. Ash up forward strengthens their side. From the look of it the WI girls moved the State coach out and look to be under the guidance of the local media celebrity gags. While his profile has strengthened the girls haven't notched the results to match but have kept improving.

Throwing my views into the ring and the Chas Phillips award can only go to sides that win more than they loose. Expect Onkas to dominate the count but will the competition for votes between the boys cost them? Any one of a number of guys like Wado, Danny-boy, Stevo could be holding the award at the end of the night. For NaFianna while big Jolls has taken a couple sides apart in a few games the consistency was not there which leaves Ready, King kenny Cool Kat and Oreilly as the guys to watch. For the Goats may come down to which stars have played the most all year. Willo was great early and will be a big chance with klunny and Gags able to cruise around and do their thing week in and week out while the consistent Flos get the job done with little fanfare but may not attract the attention of the whistle blowers. The other side with a chance to contain the winner is the Saints. Either one of the twins could steel it depending on whether the refs can pick them apart with the challenges to come from the fast men in Backy, Pomers and everyones favourite god Zeus...From the other sides Toddles will go well from Flinders with some of their other big forwards missing too many games, The peoples champ Tommy G to lead Mitcham with Chris "I can fly in anytime" Carey missing too many games, Steven Toasty CLay to take the honours at the Port and the Irish to be led by one of the best finishers in the game in Paully and talls Wark and Watto but to be well off the winner.

If Michael "Shizen Bloken" Stevenson wins the assocition medal this year i will shave off Sammy "Chewbacca" Janetskis body hair and but it between a couple of slices of bread and eat it like Damien 'Moose' Emery smashes the double QP.
Also Rupe well done on discussing the Womens Finals situation. Too bad a few more of the ladies comp dont get on and talk about their game. Their are a lot of legitimate Gaelic footy tragics on this site who do watch their comp with interest. On that note ill tip the Onkas girls to play with the correct number of girls on the pitch in this years GF and be holding the Cup up on the big day!

My sources tell me that Western Ireland accounted for Flinders O'Neills 5.9 to 2.0, which should sew up 2nd place for the Goats.

WI 1-5 over Na Fi - Leaves Saints to win with a cricket score to take 2nd in the last round
Taints 6-10 over Flinders
Onka's over Port 16+
Irish 1-5 over Mitcham

Barring any freak results, i can't see the ladder changing (or round 1 finals match ups anyway)

Goats to beat Na Fianna 6-10 not sure what gaot will show up so early on a friday.
Taints to smash the flinders lads who have given up the year. 11-15
onkas to get a cricket score against port 16+
Irish to organised for mitcham (if they show up) 6-10 points.

think the goats win 1 more game and we stay second and play onkas forst week of the finals.

good luck to all the teams
We're in hell right now gentlemen. Believe me. And we can stay here, get the shit kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell... one inch at a time.

Very interesting night of 7,s last night.

Angry Leps kicked a goal with the last kick of the game to draw with Onkas
St. Brendans moved into premiership favouritism outgunning the Dingos by around 30 points
Steve Irwins kept their finals chances alive with a win over Flinders

Yep, agreed. Im sure Pat will be liasing with the state coaching panel about some of the fine young talent. Probably just a touch to small and lean for the rigours of the Under 18,s at this stage but the boys have a bright future no doubt. One of the chases last night from one of the boys resembled an Alwyn Davey run down. Quicker than a hiccup.

Big ups to Pat and the Westminster boys for acting as fill ins for the 7,s ensuring their is no forfeits. The boys are doing a great job and getting better each week. Its also been good to see the big boys of the comp treat them like equals without smashing them like they were a Javor. Whilst also allowing the ref to do a little bit on the job learning and coaching with the boys. I assume the boys skills will be on display come Hannigan Cup final day as i see there is a slot for minor football. Def worth a look and a must see for whoever the State Minor Coach and Manager are.

After seeing some of the games over the past few weeks you get to meet and chat to some of the interesting guys out at our gaelic park. It got me thinking as to who are the winner and placegetters in the Gaelic Good Guys brownlow equivalent. Top three pick themselves in the GGG award with;

3rd - Whitto; This man is a legend and not just after winning the Aust Champs best player award. Always out at the games whether in a supporter role or coach role, prepared to put his hand up to help out whether on the bar or officiating the lines. Work involved with state as well I believe in terms of team manager role too. As hard as it would be for him not to want to be out at games you always see him there.

2nd - Tommy G, the peoples champ; The resume relating to gaelic is very impressive for this young man. Minor champion for billions of years on end, womens coach of state team, Irish blues coach, referee, big involvement with Mitcham and sevens comp, state senior rep. Missed couple years with injury but always presents well. Here the girls go "Oh Tommy you so fine you blow my mind" down at the games quite regularly...Very level headed fellow as well.

And the winner is - Zeus; This man is "God". I was chatting to Chris Bevo who said they were thinking of erecting a statue at St Marys and the many Saints watering holes. Involvement in running the 7s, the website, reffing, involved in state committee, team manager for state, sorting out the Saints boys especially with Backman, Robin, Bevo and the little Ginos. Don't think I have heard anyone say a bad word about this man.
