72 minutes and the first red card of the tournament (I think) is awarded to Tonga's Hale T Pole for elbow in the face...takes them down to 14 men.

75 minutes and Tonga's Toma Toke gets a yellow card for a dangerous tackle...down to 13 men

Final score

Samoa 15
Tonga 19

Pretty evenly matched game...bit indisciplined with 1 red card, 2 yellow cards and a fair few warnings.

And their off  ...France playing for their lives and Namibia with nothing to lose. Takes France until the 7th minute to score...then Namibia reply with a field goal in the 9th...Looks like Namibia don't plan making it easy for them

France 5
Namibia 3

Second red card of the tournament...Namibia's Jacques Nieuwenhuis for virtually knocking out Sebastien Chabal (the very very big bugger with long hair and beard) with a terrible high tackle, however considered a little hasty after almost no prior warnings.

France 17
Namibia 3

Half time

France 40
Namibia 3

France seem to have regained their confidence with a fair bit of help from, shall we say, favourable refereeing by Alain Rolland of Ireland (has a French father)...namely the hasty red card and ignoring a blatant forward pass by France that allowed them a try. Despite the score Namibia still not going to go quietly :D

The All Blacks challenged Portugal to a game of soccer yesterday. Portugal 3, All Blacks 1. Revenge no doubt was sweet.

As to my observations of Australia, they are doing what they do in every world cup. What they need to do. No fanfare and no mucking around.

I see that my observation that England were gone proved correct.

South Africa will be in the final. So it's up to the rest now to decide who meets them.

MK, me thinks it might be your lovely boys in that final battle :D Sure as heck won't be Ireland...unless they can get the pope to have a word

Well today my fellow fans of the prolate spheriod we only have the one game...

Scotland v Romania...no10 v no15

Not that far apart in the world rankings but apparently Romania have only won 2 of their last 11 encounters...the Jocks have home advantage but the Oaks might be desperate enough :D

Half time

Scotland 21

Despite the score this ain't the most exciting game of rugby or the most packed stadium. But Scotland will be relieved that they seem to be back on form.

Morning Dog_ger (and the sainted Mrs Dog_ger)

I know a bit thanks to a rugby obsessed father (both playing and spectating) I'm far from being an expert though...I readily admit to getting the statistical info from the IRB web site . But I hope my personal comments on the games aren't too far off the mark and make the posts a little more interesting than just scores.

Btw if there are any games where posting scores would be spoilers due to a delay in tv transmission let me know and I'll keep quiet :D

Final whistle

Scotland 42
Romania 0

Maybe it's the traditionalist and the snob in me but can't help thinking the game might have seemed more exciting if it had been the BBC and not a commercial station covering it. Maybe I just need another glass of red
