onkas over port fri, WI over Na fianna in a close game i was told, with fins leading early...

in a very free flowing and entertaining game form what i saw, flinders got over st. brendans.

mitcham and irish drew!!! good for both clubs to get points..but very dissapointing from our end as we let an under in with all but the last kick of the game

mitcham hit the cross bar twice early, and we had better of the early play aided by the wind... irish came back strong throught the middle and led deep into the last, before a couple of quick scores to us. There full back (insert name here) scored a grwat under with seconds left, and that was that!!

mitcham again let in too many unders, and really need to find a goal keeper to help that consistent problem. great to have the core group, including carey, on the park as we look like a much better team.

doecke lovers, you will be happy as he scored 2 great unders....

Mini Gerry strikes again ;) The full back who rose to the occasion with 4 seconds left on the cock was Stiffy :) His first ever Gaelic goal....The scores were Mitcham 0.17 drew with Irish 3.8-17
Best Irish- Mick "Rooter" Emmet kicked 6 of his sides 8 points, Peter Daicos, Nick Wark, and special mention to Stiffy for putting it in when he had too.
Mitcham- Tommy G, Chris Carey, Soxy, Mase and Rolfe

With Emmett, Doecke and Hardin getting the bulk of the scores the combined age of the leading scores warrants a telegram from the queen....won't happen again til the next Irish slowdown

Great to see Stiffy penetrate the box

Fantastic game..great that Chris Carey was able to play..well done to the association for allowing the great one to prepare a airstrip on the outer side of the ground to park the private plane...

So much easier than unnecessarily rescheduling a game..

Best FON - Alex "Puck" Hockey, Toddy McLovechild, Fred and Dale Agius

West Ireland 0.13- (13) def Na Fianna 1.7- (10) in an excellent spirited game of Gaelic Football

A very entertaining game between Flinders and St Brendans yesterday. Taints had a chance to take the lead in the late stages but Heubners audacious effort came off the crossbar. Flinders were then able to run the ball other way for an under. F'ON then managed to get a couple more unders as the Taints thru men forward (and also ran out of legs) to probably give them a bigger win then what the game really was. Flinders certainly the better team tho and deserved the victory. Taints lacking a bit of class around the park at the moment. Will need to get their full squad together for as many games possible now if they are any chance of defending the Hannigan.

Thought the ref (Adrian) did a pretty good job yesterday. There were a couple of "competitive" challenges throughout the game but thought he handled it well and was consistent in his decisions all day. Still wouldnt put him in the class of Javor but great to see he is improving.

fair call Swooper, the result did not show how close this contest was. The Taint's basically sent there whole full back line forward & resulted in 2 or 3 times where it was two players against the goalkeeper.
Other interesting notes, ZC getting on the scoreboard & i must say it's good to have Millsy back out there & his always impressive celebrations following a goal! Also was yesterday punch Bachy day???
As for the Na Fi v WI game, both teams missing a couple of players still put in a good contest in the heat. Na Fi, probably rushing the ball forward to often & WI were good enough to capitalise on the counter attack.

Thought St Brendans started stronger but I think we were definately the better team as the half wore on. St Brendans again made a charge at the beginning of the second half but we dominated toward the end and the scoreline could have blown out even more with a few certain unders missed. Was a very even and physical contest. Referee was a little inconsistent but wouldnt have been the easist game to officiate.

We probabaly had the strongest side out on the park for about 15 years, with only a couple of guys missing from our full strength line up, with that side out on the park every week I'm hopeful we will have a good chance of finals qualification

Any truth to the rumour Nev that the reason that the Flinders Reds struggle so much after Christmas is the fact that several of your squad are actually employed as Santas elves ;) You guys may not have won a Cup in 20 years but you sure have made some toys for girls and boys
