Caps go down to the Panthers 5-4.
Although not happy we lost at least we had a go. Were down 5-1 and in previous weeks would have rolled over and conceded 7 or 8 but to the guys credit they dragged it back to 5-4 and with a bit more luck taken it to OT.

The NHL Board of Goveners have approved a radical new re-alignment plan and it will be voted on shortly.
If it gets voted in the new 4 conference system will look like this:
Conference A - New Jersey, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, NY Rangers, NY Islanders, Washington, Carolina
Conference B - Boston, Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Buffalo, Florida, Tampa
Conference C - Detroit, Columbus, Nashville, St Louis, Chicago, Minnesota, Dallas, Winnipeg
Conference D - LA Kings, Anaheim, Phoenix, San Jose, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Colorado

Conference A & B have only 7 teams to allow for further expansions
Sides in the 7 team conference play each other 6 times (3 home/3 away) and sides in the 8 team conference play each other 5 or 6 times (5 times one year and 6 times the next)
The rest of the games will be made up of inter conference games and everyone will meet each other at least once home and away every year.
When it comes to finals the top 4 in each conference qualify with the first two rounds of finals purely within each conference ( 1v4, 2v3 with the winners meeting to decide each conference champions. The 4 conference champions will then play in the semis. Basically means 2 sides from same conference cant get to last 4

Caps defeat the Leafs 4-2, not a bad turn around from the 7-1 loss to them a fortnight ago.
