From Twitter:

"Prior to tonight the Yankees were 32-0 (1.000) all-time in the postseason when they led by 5+runs to start the 5th inning"

Judge's botched catch, Volpe's terrible throw, 5 runs later.

"Start spreading the news..."

End of the day beaten by a better team and duly lost.
They need to now go and spend whatever it takes to assemble a team capable of winning

This might be my favourite Shohei fact to date:

From Twitter:

Shohei Ohtani hit more 450+ foot HRs than 28 MLB teams this year.

The only team to beat him was Colorado, whose home field is more than 1,500m above sea level and is notorious as a hitter's park

Ackshually, he's won two Cy Youngs

I've been a fan of his since the 2020 World Series, when the Rays manager took him out earlier and ended up costing them the game (and WS title).

No deferred money either, by the looks of it. They add another $51M per year on top of the biggest payroll in the game.

A few trades going down at the winter meetings.

Boston get Garrett Crochet for 3 prospects (what is it with Yanks and their obsession with first names that sound like surnames???)

Texas get Jake Burger for 3 prospects.

Cleveland deal Andres Gimenez and Nick Sandlin to Toronto for Spencer Horowitz and a prospect. Horowitz is then dealt to the Pirates for Luis Ortiz and a couple of prospects.

Nate Eovaldi resigned with Texas. 3 years/$75M.

The ball that Freddie Freeman hit a game winning grand slam off in game one has sold at auction for $1.56M USD.

A ten year old kid caught it...

Dodgers sign young Japanese superstar prospect Roki Sasaki to an international rookie contract, and then pick up elite closer Tanner Scott for 4yrs/$72M.

Fair to say they've gone some lengths to addressing the lack of pitching in 2024.

I read a quote the other day about how it looks like the Dodgers are trying to go 162-0 in 2025, and I laughed.

Now I read where they've just signed All-Star closer Kirby Yates from Texas, and I'm beginning to think their strategy is simply to buy every frigging player....

It used to be the closer position was much vaunted amongst relievers, now it's looking like any one of a handful of All-Star flamethrowers will be the man.

Now I know what it feels like to be the Yankees
