I believe Onkaparinga was named after an area of land in Adelaide's Southern suburbs would you believe it! We even have a council named after us![/quote]

More importantly some of the opposition players make that pasty red head Dan Bryant look more like his brother Kobe!

Western Ireland was made up by Gaelic historian Issac Bromley. God belss him.

tips
Goats to win at the ramsgate on friday night as Flinders have asked to move the game to a later date. Sounds like the flinders lads are still at spring carnival cleaning dishes to make up for what they lost.

Onkas to continue form and beat the irish. 11-15
Saints to smash port all over the field 16+
Na Fianna to beat mitcham 6-10
We're in hell right now gentlemen. Believe me. And we can stay here, get the shit kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell... one inch at a time.

Looking forward to seeing Port for the first time this Sunday! The Taints still havent put a full game together this year, we still pretty patchy against an undermanned Mitcham outfit in the wet last week. However so far we are looking pretty strong for this week - there has even been whisper of former Taint and multiple state rep Damien Sugg coming back to the Taints for a few games! Would be a massive in if it happens.

If anyone cant get the mens State trip photos on Facebook, try following this link: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=3 ... 5cebe1b2cb

Also i have the State mens photos on my laptop which will be at Gaelic HQ all Sunday, so BYO USB drive or CD if you want to grab them!

Made Famous for his seven year voyage to the "Isle of the blessed" with his 60 pilgrims (also known as the St brendans faithful) who set out looking for the garden of Eden. This voyage resulted in the finding of the Isle of Brendan. A phantom island as it turns out. There are also claims (possibly made by Brendan himself) that he was in fact the first European to set foot on American soil. Interesting stuff.

Hopefully some of these 60 odd pilgrims can front up for tonights game in tough conditions..!!

When picturing St Brendan in my head, i imagine he would be a dead ringer for Seanny Dunne...

Another quick St Brendan fact I picked up during my week in Ireland last week is that he was born in County Kerry, which wear the green and gold strip similar to St Brendans.

Cool

On behalf of Flinders I would like to express my thanks to Dave and the boys from Western Ireland for allowing our game to be postponed. We had over a dozen players unavailable due to a number if pre planned events which left us decimated. Their understanding of the situation is much appreciated. Hopefully we can return the favour one day

Not many nominations for the Gaelic7s competition thus far - any existing State League clubs want to field a team at this late stage? As pointed out on this thread a while back, its been a very long time since a club won the Hannigan Cup who wasnt also fielding a Gaelic7s team at the same time!

The Gaelic7s is a top way for State League teams to blood new players, and for teams to work on their game. Sorta like training really!

MBK your mob usually has a few players (Matty Hill, Kenny, Gav O'Reilly etc) playing with rival Gaelic7s teams for a bit of practice - keen to lodge a team from Na Fianna or Payneham?

Schimma, surely Western Ireland will be fielding a team this year?

Nev not sure if Flinders have ever been in the Gaelic7s, keen to give it a crack?

we played 7's up at GAZA, went ok for a bit, had some cracker ring ins!....but the fights up there were regular and creative .....Lucky Onkas werent playing up there or they would have really seen "thugs" in action up there....

On GAZA 7's thats the last time I saw Ard Marha (spelling) in gaelic...Wristy or anyone else that knows, what happened to them?...were one of the few team Flinders beat on a regular basis going back 10 years or so....

Ard Mhacha is Gaelic for Armagh. A county in Ulster named after a tall Irish Queen...no bruno jokes. They gave up 10 years ago because they couldn't even beat Flinders.

Saints 11-15

Onkas 1-5- Apparently the coach has got the sack after his 3-0 start and a bloke with less than 6% body fat has taken over the duties (and the massive pay cheque too)!

The coach should retire with his undefeated 3-0 record.
If the reports of "the" Gabe Phillips taking over the reigns at Onka's, that would place Micky Lawlor's 5 Best dressed coach awards in serious jepordary
