I just read the minutes from the last meeting and all i can say is I feel for Flinders and Daniel Della Vendetta-Verde. Obviously some people have it in for him and he cant get an oppurtunie to play the game he loves. I recruited DDV and some of his mates from Rostrevor College in early 2003 as i had to build a State Minors Team nearly from scratch and well the rest is history....
2003 Australasian Champions with his Dad as the major sponsor
Won a HANNIGAN CUP
WON 2 X FARNHAM CUPS
9 a side Champions
Probably more importantly he has never been sent off in a State League Game. He also waited a year to re apply without any who-ha in between. I saw that someone on the commitee recommended a 3 year probation (surely thats a good idea)
Yes he was a member of the Titans but he wasnt the Captain or in any way involved with the Administration. IN MY OPINION SOME PEOPLE NEED TO STOP BEING HATERS THAT WILL ONLY LOOK AT PEOPLES FAULTS OR NEGATIVES. ALLOW PEOPLE TO GET ON WITH THEIR LIVES.
If i played on DDV in a game we would shake hands then proceed to knock the living suitcase out of each other and when the whistle went shake hands again.
I wonder if anyone on the commitee ever played against the Clovercrest Gaels? There were fellas on that team that make Della look like a church mouse.
I dont expect my blog to change anything or have any effect on people when certain minds are already made up. I just dont think its fair for all the negativety there is surrounding DDV AND I CLEARLY UNDERSTAND WHAT ITS LIKE TO HAVE PEOPLE BESMIRCH AND ATTACK YOUR CHARACTER REGARDLESS OF WHAT GOOD OR WHAT SERVICE YOU HAVE PROVIDED.
Good luck Flinders O Neil with your next appeal.

Only bad thing i remeber he did was the all in brawl he started against the jets in 9 aside. That was one of the best brawls i had seen in Gaelic. His 2 mates he brought out running 100m from the bench to get envolved was classic. One guy was actually out of puff and could not throw a puch and gor cleaned up. Other then that i would not even no what he looks like
We're in hell right now gentlemen. Believe me. And we can stay here, get the shit kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell... one inch at a time.

Funny read that, not knowing the bloke at all...Confidence is one thing seems not to be lacking

"I’ve gone to jump up a guy’s back, for the 100th time that week" :o

another interesting point for discussion...

"One of my best mates Gabe Phillips is the best (gaelic) player in the state by a mile "

Gabe can play yes...but Would we all agree with a mile?..

Well if you don't know the bloke at all then don't comment about him!

Apparently he nearly touched the clouds just before he went down with a broken leg was it?? I hear he's going to make a special comeback just for the Flinder's Oneils and try and replicate what Jason Statham did as the 'Monk' in the 2001 movie Mean Machine:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wP30xljdf4

And about Gabe Phillips:

4 x Jim Farnan Cups
1 x Hannigan Cup
3 x 7/9 a side Cups
2 x 13/15 a side Player of the year awards
3 x 7/9 a side Player of the year awards
5 x best dressed Gaelic Footballer awards

Yeah he's pretty average!

Perhaps someone else should field this question????? The Titans made some big mistakes but just tonight i spoke to ex player James Gowans (some of you may know him form 9/11 SANFL PREMIERSHIPS) and he got the giggles when he heard DDV (Della) is still not allowed to play.I wont repeat his exact words.....The Titans will never be part of GFHA of SA (thats fine as they made some terrible errors of judgement) again but b4 there was Titans and to name just a few of their reps.... WIEDEMANN, J+C GOWANS played along with the then Glenelg Capt Ben Moore, 97 SANFL premiership player Troy Clements,PAFC,s Rock Harry, Dan Lees, Soderstrom, 2 x Magery Medalist D Squire + 2010 BOG IN THE SANFL GF IAN CULLINAN and i could go on and on....OK, I WILL GO ON, let me name some current players
ONKAS - Gabe, Aysh, Brin + ??? (WELL U CAN ONLY HAVE 3)
FON - Ant costalos + CLEARLY NOT DDV
Na Fianna - The ex Coach + Dirty Dave Aston
Port - 4 players
BUT APPARENTLY DDV LIT THE CHICAGO FIRES....SCHIMMA IS CORRECT. On 1 occasion DDV HAD 2 MATES WHO GOT REDS AND WERE NEVER SEEN AGAIN.....NO-ONE IS TRYING TO REFORM THE TITANS. Yes there was commotion surrounding their exit but DDV had nothing to do with it and hes getting punished. Thats fine, my support will probably only hinder his oppurtunity to play the game he loves.
Why do i keep fighting 4 DDV; because back when we were the whipping boys of NSW/VIC I made a promise to 23 young fellas...."WE DONT LAY DOWN FOR NO-BODY"
MY OPINION AND PASSIONATE FEELING IS THAT ONE PERSON IS BEING PUNISHED FOR THE SINS OF 4 OTHER PEOPLE WHEN THE TALENTED YOUNG GAELIC FOOTBALLER JUST WANTS TO PLAY THE GAME.
Daniel if you never play again you already done more than those who are stopping you from playing. You were not involved with any specific commotion but alas sh*t happens. I wish i could have helped more.

Flinders by 11-15
Onkas by 1-5
Na Fianna by 11-15

I have no doubt Whitto could be as good, if not better, than Gabe if he wasn't constantly pining after his Big Polish unrequited love!

Thanks wristy, your one hundred per cent correct in everything you have said. I have know Daniel for many years and have played gaelic against him and soccer with him. I have never had any problems with him and was that strong in my opinion on this issue that I took it to the national level and financed this appeal out of my own pocket. There have be NO list of allegations or anything evidence of any wrong doings by Daniel provided to Flinders by the committee (which I am a part of).

Daniel has basically been given a life ban from gaelic football in this country based on the opinions of a few persons within the association and I believe this is wrong. If I go out and king hit a player on the field and cause this person serious injury I would escape with a much more lenient penalty (This is only an example, Im not going to do it!!). Im keen on another appeal, but I dont like my chances unfortunately.

In relation to that incident, Daniel supplied a written apology supplied to the committee and attended the last meeting to front up and answer any questions.....still was denied registration....

He is a very very good player. He is not best by a mile. I believe in my opinion we have players in our side (Flinders) that are just as good. He has been assisted by always playing in the top sides, Im not sure he would be as good in a struggling team

Flinders v Onkas next week......might be a bit of a cracker after comments on here and after reading the Committee minutes from the last meeting an Onkas official labelled Flinders players as "thugs"....

Great work by the web master to get a newsletter and the 7s out there. Must still be on holidays...First week dished up a few interesting results and sees the Onkas boys being the early premiership favourites.

To this weeks games;
With the hope of the better weather the Port boys will be in it up to their necks but Na Fianna and their structures to be too strong. Milko the dragon slayer to pick up Toasty in a "battle royale". Nafianna by 5 points.

Onkas and St Brendans to slug it out in an early season showdown. The Saints boys looked to be just toying with the young Irish boys at times on the weekend and for the 10 minutes they decided to play blew the game apart. Coach Milson will be hoping he gets to release the little Gino's that touch earlier to show the razzle dazzle they are known for and spark the lads as he knows it won't be this easy this week. Onkas and their classy recruits lifted the comp standard again in a good win of the goats and with the inclusion of Danny should be too quick and clean for the Saints at this time of the season. Onkas by 6 points.

Flinders to rebound from last weeks narrow defeat and get the choccies against the Irish boys. The inclusion of half dozen classy players will give the Flinders the lift to overrun an improving Irish outfit in the second half. Flinders by the half dozen points.

Western Ireland to hit back hard this week against the Mitcham boys. Talk of couple more recruits to spark the goats even with the sparkling form of the spiritual leader Tommy Greenshields. The Flo's to get the boys back on track for a solid 5 point win.

Fri night results...

NA FIANNA 3.7 (16) def PORT 1.2 (5)
Best NAF ; Dirty Dave Aston-BOG, Turbo-On debut, Matty Hill, Gordon in Goals + Irish George.
PORT ; Toasty + Tommy Nicholls were both in the play a lot and battled all game. Im still learning a lot of the Port guys names.
A good game played in challenging conditions. Very even in most parts of the ground with Port just breaking down around Half Fwd a lot. The Finns experience allowed them to put their heads over the ball and gain control of the game with the pick ups. Port will be a much more dangerous side in dry conditions IMO.

WI 4.12 (24) def Mitcham 0.4 (4)
Best WI ; Willow-BOG BY A COUNTRY FOOTBALLERS PAYCHECK, Gags, J MacDonald (had a farm), JFlo, Cahill (not Tim) + Skinny
MITCHAM ; Tommy G, Mase, Jake "Tractor" Peters, Dale Oz + Rolfy
The sleeping giant has awoken. The game was very quick with the ball really pinging around for the majority of proceedings. The scoreboard doesnt flatter MITCHAM but there were a lot of excellent contests all over the ground. Despite slippery conditions and light intermitant rain the Goats shooting was nothing short of sublime which allowed the scorebaord to have its lopsided appearance.
