Could see two sets of historical numbers this year.

Ohtani's quest for 50/50, currently sitting on 47 HRs and 48 SBs. Has one of each so far today

The ChiSox have 15 more games to become immortal. Reinsdorf taking the Captain Obvious route by saying "no one is happy with 2024"

There have been 20,780 players in MLB history.

Only one of them has ever hit 48 home runs and stolen 48 bases in the same season.

That player is also a pitcher, and currently recovering from a torn UCL.

Shohei Ohtani is the greatest player of all time.

49 stolen bases, as of today.

Was only saying the other day, in 20 years time we could be saying that we saw the greatest ever do his thing.

Also said that it was amazing how fast Mike Trout went from being in the conversation as being the GOAT, to be the second best player in his team!

And history is made, Ohtani goes 50/50 in a ridiculous performance in Miami

6 for 6, 3 home runs, 2 doubles and 2 stolen bases. He's a deadset freak...

Do you reckon he had a wager on himself to get it?

Seriously though, they are unbelievable numbers.

Given what happened earlier this year, I'd say he goes nowhere near gambling

Serious video game numbers, he can't be human...

How's this for a stat:

"Today, Shohei Ohtani hit two doubles, three homers, drove in ten runs, and stole two bases. Entering today, only 19 of the 2284 games played this season (0.83%) has had an entire team accomplish those marks in a single game."
