Arson attack on V8 display car
Sunday Nov 6 21:44 AEST

Motor racing identity Dick Johnson says an arson attack on a display car in Tasmania overnight won't affect his racing team as it prepares for the V8 Supercar Championships this week.

Arsonists destroyed a $45,000 Ford Falcon racing sedan in Devonport on Sunday morning.

The car had been shipped to Tasmania to help promote the V8 Supercar Championships this week but it is now a write-off.

It was parked in a holding bay at Devonport's ferry terminal after being shipped across Bass Strait.

Johnson said the team would push on.

"I'm disappointed that it has happened," he said.

"But it won't affect the team in any shape or form and it's business as unusual when we arrive in Launceston on Thursday."

Tasmania Police said the attack on the car, which occurred about 4.30am (AEDT) on Sunday, was under investigation.

Dick Johnson Racing communications manager Tony Mee said police told him cars in the ferry terminal had been hit several times by arsonists in recent weeks.

"There was no other equipment damage and no racing equipment was destroyed by fire," Mr Mee added.

Ford Racing Australia
03/11/2005
Seton to bring up double century in Tasmania

Westpoint Racing's Glenn Seton will make his 200th start in Australian Touring Cars at the 12th round of this year's V8 Supercar Championship Series, the Ferodo Triple Challenge at Tasmania's Symmons Plains Raceway from 11-13 November.

Seton will be just the third driver to pass 200 starts, behind Peter Brock (212 starts) and Dick Johnson (202 starts).

A two-time Series Champion (1993 and '97), Seton has one of the best records in Australian motor sport, ending the season inside the championship top-10 on 14 occasions.

The 40-year-old has finished on the podium 53 times (fourth on the all-time list), in a career that started aboard a Ford Capri at the old Surfers Paradise International Raceway in 1984.

After three years with Nissan from 1986 to 1988, Seton has been aboard a Ford since. During this period he has become one of Ford's favourite sons, winning in Sierras and Falcons.

Seton sold his own team at the end of 2002, choosing to concentrate on driving only. He spent two years with Ford Performance Racing before joining his old Ford rival Dick Johnson at the start of this season.

Delighted to bring up 200 starts, the quietly spoken Seton has his eyes set on furthering that mark.

"I'm only two starts behind Dick's mark and then 12 short of Peter Brock's all-time record," said Seton.

"It's been a great career, not too many people can claim two championships.

"A victory at Bathurst is clearly the thing missing, but I've had three second places up Mount Panorama, so I've got as close as you can.

"My desire is still very much alive. This championship is far tougher now then it ever was, so doing well gives me great satisfaction.

"I've really enjoyed racing this year. We are 12th in the championship and my team-mate Steven Johnson is 11th. We are in with a real shot of having both cars in the top-10 at season's end.

"When I look back to 1993 when I first won the championship, Ford really only had Dick Johnson Racing and Glenn Seton Racing in the mix. These days there are seven teams that the factory supports and the fan base is well over a million.

"My supporters have been wonderful over the years. They have been with me through the good and bad times. I still find it amazing that people want my autograph and follow my racing all over the country.

"A strong result in my 200th race would be very special and I see no reason why we can't achieve that."

Seton will be honoured at the Ford V8 Superbreakfast at Hobart's Bellerive Oval on Thursday 10 November. Australian cricket legend David Boon, who made a career Test best of 200 against New Zealand in 1989, will make the special presentation.

Ironically the 3 Holdens coming 1, 2 and 3 was a great result for the Fords with Ingall, Ambrose and Lowndse pulling away from 4th and 5th that little bit more.
Sooky boy Skaife is now 130pts of Ingall.
Hoping for similar results today making the GF at Phillip Island in a couple of weeks a fight between 3 Fords a certainty! :D

Race 3 finished, great results for Ford who extend the lead at the top of the championship table!
Difference between 1st Ford and 1st Holden has blown out from 94 to 122 pts and the difference between the 3rd Ford and the 1st Holden has blown out from 13 to 36 pts.
Hard to see it not being Blue Oval championship 3 peat!

They are building his engines Wedgie, and are set to supply engines to more of the Fords next year.

Clutching at straws RRTW, give me 3 SANFL premierships than 7 wins at Alberton in a row.
(JUST! )

PS And that would be assuming the SANFL team that had the wins at Alberton was in fact using an Chev engine!
