Cars don't have any AC and it was nearly 40 at start time.
Amazed that 8 cars finished.

Big race? That's debatable, I looked at the paper this morning and can honestly say I'd never heard of the top 7 drivers despite being a sports freak.
Ironically I could have named a dozen before the GP even came to Australia.
Sport's gone backwards big time but a classic example of the strength of the corporate dollar and Ecclestone's nouse.

Lewis Hamilton is the best thing to happen to f1 since Senna.

Is a young, british Negro.

Set a record in his rookie last with the most ever podiums in a row, his first 7 or 8 (?) races he ended up on the podium.

Was leading all year, until the last race.

Came second in the championship by 1 point. The future of the sport. (and he won today)

Robert Kubica, has been racing for only 2 or 3 years, very very fast and had a monster crash @ Canada last year. Has not won any races yet, but he will. Will be around for the next decade. Also has a huge nose.

Kovaleinin ALSo a young gun. Only the second year in the championship. Swapped seats with Alonso at the end of 2007. Very very fast, but makes too many mistakes. So far. Will also be around for 10 years.
Felipe Massa, been around for 5 or 6 years, IMHO not very good, and was very lucky to get Schuey's seat when he retired. His first few years were a crash-a-thon. Is quick but not good enough. Has won a few races, but will never be world champ.

Nick Heidfeld has been racing for 7-8 years, was allegedly always going to be very good but finally started showing it last year in the fast BMW

Nico Rosberg is the son of the great Keke Rosberg, also in his second year.

Another newby today was Nelson Piquet son.


Just like V8 supercars, (nearly) all the old and slow blokes are long gone, and have been taken over by young fearless people who don't subscribe to the theory that you can't pass in an f1

Season 2007 in f1 was possibly the most exciting ever, with a total of 1 point between first, second and third!

whoever says f1 is better than v8s needs to be checked out IMO, boring race yeserday. and goes to show everyone who has been saying over the last few years that F1 cars all but drive themselves were correct. so many mistakes made that caused accidents yesterday. hopefully it will bring some excitement bakc to the sport.

I thought it was a great race yesterday, a lot of action (apart from the result, I HATE Lewis Hamilton) The new regulations have made the cars a lot more difficult to drive, back to what they were prior to the mid 90s. Hamiton drove a good race, but I still think Kimi is the guy to beat this year, he definately has the quickest car by a fair distance.

Id rather watch F1 than the V8s. F1 is the top level of motorsport in the world with (on the whole) the best drivers in the world on some of the best tracks in the world.

Rushby, for the the jury is still out on Lewis Hamilton. Id like to see how he'd go in a team that isn't McLaren, see if he can actually develop a mid pack car into a leading one, like Senna, Prost and Schumacher did on more than one occasion each. Lewis showed in the last few races last season than when the pressure was on he couldn't handle it. The majority of his results last year were due to being in the best car (though an illegal one and he and Alonso should have been thrown out of the championship).

I agree with you on Massa, I dont rate the guy at all (although he was team mates to Schuey and didn't take his seat as you said, Kimi did).

Kubica was unlucky yesterday, being punted off, but the guy will be a world champion. Heidfeld will be good too, maybe not WC, but will get close. He is unlucky, after having been absolutely shafted by Ron Dennis a few years ago when Kimi went to McLaren.

Bordais is all class, and would be gutted after retiring just 3 laps from the end (as was I, it cost be a huge amount of points in my dream team).

Hopefully there wont only be two Australian GPs left.

He's an arrogant wanker. Not the confident arrogance that Schuey and Senna had, but the smug slimey arrogance of someone who thinks everyone should bow down to him. In saying that, he's a damn good driver and will win a few WCs, but I think if he wasn't in a dominant team, he wouldn't be able to get that team up the pointy end of the grid. I also dont like how the media get so damn excited everytime they talk about him.

Also thought it was funny that his dad was signing autographs before the race on Sunday!!!

You cant compare Hamiltons record against anyone else in F1 right now, and no one since Villeneuve, because no one else has walked into the dominant teams since Jacques. Webber has never driven other than a dud.

Anyway, I never said Hamilton isn't good, just not as good as people think, he's no Schuey, Senna, Prost, Lauda, Fangio, Moss, or Piquet.
