Vale Red Auerbach

Postby Magpiespower » Sun Oct 29, 2006 8:32 pm

The Boston Celtics supremo has died from a heart attack, aged 89.

Auerbach was the most important Celtic ever.

Without him, Boston probably wouldn't have won a championship, let alone sixteen.

Made some of the shrewdest transactions in NBA history - the most famous probably taking Larry Bird with the number six pick in the 1978 Draft while he was still a junior in College.

Did so in full knowledge that Bird was going to play his senior year at College.

Imagine how many more championships the Lakers would have won if Red didn't join the Celtics in 1950?
