Allenby wins Masters to take Triple crown

Postby ORDoubleBlues » Sun Dec 11, 2005 7:13 pm

Well done to Robert Allenby today on winning the Masters in what was a very even final round in a playoff from big hitting American Bubba Watson. Very even final round in which Allenby, Watson and Nick O'Hern all had chances to win.
Will be interested to watch Watson's progress on the USPGA tour next year.
Allenby is now guaranteed a start in the US Masters as well as the other three majors.
Thought a good example of the advancement of technology was shown today when Watson hit Driver and a 4 iron approach in benign conditions to the 555m par 5 14th. Remember Greg Norman, who was one of the longest hitters at the time, hitting a Driver and then whacking a driver off the deck to get home in two during his final round duel with Nick Faldo in 1990.
