Port river 17 feb

Postby Mickyj » Sun Feb 17, 2008 9:31 am

Well taking some advice I decided to head to virtually my backyard and try a spot on the port river .Before all the best spots are built on for housing.
I got to a spot recomended and headed straight in .I had a few follows and then I got snagged on the rocky bottom .Desnagging I went for a walk along the shore watching baitfish schools I reentered the water .And this time i lost my rubberband fly to a rock .
Well that put a damper on things thought about heading up the river by car closer to home .Then thought its not worth the trouble so I walked back past where I first entered the water and found a spot with less rocks and more sand.
I think after four casts I noticed movement on the footpath and as I turned to look.BANG I am on .And boy did this salmon trout fight. When I got home I realised the camera was playing up as well!!

Lucky I take two snaps to make sure sorry about the image.
anyway out i went again and lost that fly .tied on another fly and i lost the third fly to a bad knot .
So i thought after an hour I had had enough lost flies and headed home out of the morning sun. After a trip to the tackle shop for more hooks .

cheers
