The Brighton Sports and Social Club Committee (BSSC) are very pleased to announce that our long awaited Brighton-On- Lights Project is now a goer.
The Committee has managed to negotiate a loan from the City of Holdfast Bay to enable the project to proceed.
We have borrowed $45,000 from the Council which together with money contributed from the BSSC, a grant of $30K from the State Government, a grant of $20K from the City of Holdfast Bay, a grant of $10K from the Australian Football League, a grant of $5K from the South Australian national Football League, a contribution from both the Brighton Football Club and the footy clubs minis sub-committee and donations of ‘in kind support’ from Greg Spurling of Spurling Electrical and Andy Germain’s, Betta Brick and Paving has enabled us to engage a contractor and commence the project.
On Saturday 26th February the Club is hosting a Sports Night featuring some well known football stars.(Anthony Koutoufidies,Wayne Johnston, Aussie Jones) It is an important fundraiser for the Club and the Committee have resolved that all money raised (from door and bar sales) will be directed to the loan repayments.

ANTHONY KOUTOUFIDIES 278 Games Carlton superstar

Was a former Club Captain and 2 times Best and Fairest winner. 1995 Premiership player. He played the game like no other, picking the ball up in one hand while fending off tackles with the other. On his day he was unstoppable.

WAYNE JOHNSTON dominated finals like they were practice matches. Played in 4 Premierships with the Blues and on 3 occasions was awarded Best player by the Carlton Football Club. He also won 2 Best and Fairest and was Captain of the club. Member of the Carlton team of the Century.

AUSSIE JONES 226 games for the Saints before retiring at the young age of 28. He started his career looking like he just started high school, 65kg and only 17 years of age, but soon proved himself to be a very classy player. Representing the Big V and also becoming a 2 time All Australian. Represented Australia against Ireland in the International Rules Series.

Come and meet these 3 champions and have a great night out!
