In case you weren't aware I've been trialling a forum on SAFooty where the normal rules don't apply, call it an Anything Goes Forum, call it a NSFW forum, call it a No Holds Barred Forum or call it a Bay 13 forum where people can troll, post pics of naked chicks, they can swear, they can abuse people, they can basically say what they like and there really isn't any rules as such.
Its not the first private/hidden/forum on the site, we have several for different purposes.
It is kept hidden from the rest of the forum as most of it would not be suitable for kids, suitable for work viewing, suitable for people who just want to talk footy, etc.
At this stage I'm keen to keep it by invite as was suggested once before so I can make sure people are there for the right reason, a bit of fun. I'm fully aware that some people will just want access for all the wrong reasons (having something to complain about, etc) so will continue the Invite system but am open for feedback of changes, etc as it still is in its trial stages.
If this place sounds like it appeals to you send me a pm and myself and other arseholes will let you know if we think you'll fit in there and enjoy the experience.
At this stage there is no moderators in there although the Administrators (myself, Diss and Dutch) have full access to the forum.

Any questions or thoughts then post away, anyone want an invite them PM me.

Wedgie - who has joined thus far? The answer may be of interest to those considering PM'ing you with an expression of interest to join, ie the opportunity for cameraderie may be just as important as the content contained therein, to people considering asking to be invited.

Good point Squawk, I'll give that some consideration as well as put it to the current "arseholes", I think your question is valid. I'll get back to you.

It'll come down to who we think will be there for the right reasons, ie having a fun time and joining in. If people want to be there for other reasons such as just to get access to a place they want to can then you're right, we will be selective.

Isn't/wasn't this the point of the site?

If you keep it hidden and it is no holds barred how do normal posters know if there is a thread on the lounge that is devoted to bagging them out, for example?

I am not sold on this idea. It feels like you are trying to be all things to all people.

The way they run Bay 13 on BigFooty seems more open. Although there is less moderation there is still SOME moderation and if you are banned on one part of the site you are banned on bay 13 too. At least others posters have the right to see what their fellow posters are saying.

It is the main thrust of the site, hence why the footy part is in full view of everybody including non-members. The site has become a lot bigger than just australian rules football though.

I'm not a big fan of Bigfooty and how they run their site, probably the main reason why I turned them down when they offered to buy this site. Their bay 13 seems a very grey area to me. Who knows, we might end up doing similarly, its a trial and even if it wasn't a trial I'm always looking at changing things for the better on this site to keep it fresh.

Yes, but that's the thing. I think it could be affected. There's a section of the site that I can't see that has no moderation populated in part by posters who I thought had been banned. This is a lot different to a moderator's discussion group. That's whole different spin on the site as I knew it.

If you made the lounge public but made it very clear to everyone that the forum had minimal moderation so buyer beware at least you have some accountability which I think is important. I don't mean public to non-members of SAFooty who just surf to the site randomly. But open to non-lounge members. We are a strong community, or have been. Previously I have felt a sense of trust between members, supported by good moderation. Now it feels wrong somehow.

You didn't reply to one of my questions. How does a non-lounge member know if there is abuse directed at them under lounge privelege. Abuse that may be unfair but left unmoderated could influence perceptions of others in the lounge?
