How do I put up/what is an 'Avatar' ?

An Avatar is the picture that is located under your 'username' when you post.

There are several ways of putting Avatars up on a forum.

It is important to note that avatars follow the same rules as any pictures posted on the forum:
No pornographic/innapropriate images or offensive language will be tolerated.

Where are the avatar settings located:

1. At the top of the page click on 'user control panel'
2. On the left-hand side of the page under options click on 'profile'
3. Still on the left-hand side and under options click 'edit avatar'
4. You will be provided with an 'edit avatar' box which looks like this:

Adding an avatar using resizing and link off-site:

The easiest way is to locate the picture/avatar straight from your computer.
So either a picture you already have or one that you find on the internet (and have saved to a location on your computer).

It will need to be resized for avatar compatability see below.

Resizing the picture for avatar suitablity:

I find using this website http://www.tinypic.com the best way as you can resize pictures especially/compatable for avatar use.

So in simple/basic explanation:

1. Locate or save the picture you are wanting to post from your computer (Desktop is best as it's then easy to locate).
2. Go to the http://www.tinypic.com website
3. Click on 'browse' and locate/select the picture from your computer
4. Where it says 'resize' select 'avatar (100x75)'
5. Click on 'upload now' which is a big green box
6. It will provide you with 4 links.
7. Click on the 'box' below the option that says 'Direct Link For Layouts' (it will highlight)
8. Right click and select 'copy'
9. Paste that copied link into the box in 'edit avatar settings' that says 'Link off-site'
10. Click 'submit'

Your avatar should then display
