Quite often I get asked how many people visit the site, is it getting more visitors, etc.
Keep in mind we have one more day of the month but I can proudly say that SAFooty for this month has had:

37,412 unique visitors
134,139 visits
3,320,577 pages have been looked at
9,692,939 hits have been received
41.57gb of bandwidth has been used

How does this compare to other months?
The stats can be confusing and I don't profess to fully understand them but we've received more "unique visitors" this month than ever before.

Looking at other stats our busiest month so far appeared to be in August last year:
36,756 unique visitors
135,745 visits
3,818,922 pages were looked at
10,775,653 hits were received
75.37gb of bandwidth was used

We've always received more hits during the footy season compared to the rest of the year but our figures in the last 3 months are better than our figures in the middle of footy season less than 2 years ago. Considering we've only had 1 round of SANFL/AFL in this month we are extremely happy with the growth and popularity of the site.
SAFooty is enjoying a real growth spurt at the moment and I can comfortably say we will continue to break records thanks to you all!

Also in 2 of the last 3 studies the Australian did on Australian Football sites SAFooty.net was in the top 10 Australian Football sites in the world!
This is extraordinary considering we concentrate on South Australian footy.

When I first started this site it was using about 4gb of bandwidth a month, I used to be able to safely house it on very cheap webspace.
Thanks to our sponsors we can keep up with our demand and obviously pay a lot more for webspace now, we've only struggled once and that was on Magarey Medal night last year and as far as up/down time go we have an extremely good record thanks to having quality webspace and our resident IT Guru Dissident to always call on.

SAFooty is truly the best place to get any information or have any discussion about SA Footy!

Doesn't how many sites you set up, if it doesn't have great people that contribute (or a great group of Moderators) it would be nothing.

Those sites are pretty unreliable and differ greatly, would probably only go off hits and not income potential. I can tell you for a fact that 10k wouldn't go close to cutting the mustard if someone wanted to buy the site.

Definitely not having a go here, in fact this could be taken as a massive compliment, but - it would surely only be worth what the current admin and mods put into the site opn a daily basis?

Ie - it's not like a business model that you can just set and forget, then cash the cheque at the end of the month, so any potential buyer would have to put more effort than what happens at present to get a return.

I guess what I'm saying is that the site may be worth well over $10k, but only because of the admin and mods putting in the effort. Take this work away and it's be worth a fraction of $10k IMO.

why would this site be worth 10k, when it costs money to run. how do you get income from it?

We make money from it because of our sponsors. Sponsor Income>Site costs.
Money from sponsorships also allow us to give out prizes for various competitions on the site.
The site wouldnt' be worth 10k, IMHO its worth a lot more, as I said before if someone offered us 10k for this site we wouldn't even consider selling it. (In fact someone on behalf of bigfooty.com did offer to buy the site a couple of years ago, I said thanks, but no thanks.)

So if say the site costs $2000 per year to run. If you get various sponsors to pay $5000 per year then that means your profit is $3000 is that correct?
