WLF, a circle is complete. I'm not sure the debate on this issue is.

Who foisted the lounge onto the site?

I thought the mods effectively "owned" the site or is there some other entity that does?

You're confused. The Mods have been getting owned.

Nah not long at all, and its still in its trial stages. Just expanding it a little atm and to do that had to advertise it publicly.

Wouldn't the mods then moderate as per the wishes and direction of admin?

I don't think the mods not being able/willing to reveal their true feelings and reasons toward to lounge helps them debate the pros and cons in the public forum.

And neither does the snide remarks made on certain threads..

Just saying.

Understood. So the hidden lounge was suggested by Wedgie, Dutchy and Dissident?

I have no problems with that as those guys are all regulars on the site and well loved by all (except for Cornesey in Wedgies case).

I was concerned that someone not involved with the site had suggested the hidden lounge...

Its been suggested by various people for years, I finally felt like giving it a go as a trial, I'm always keen on trying new things to keep the site fresh and relevent not wanting it to get stagnant, sometimes ideas work, sometimes they dont hence why its a trial.

I advised my fellow Administrators of my intentions none of who opposed it at the time so implemented it and advise the Mods at virtually the same time.

There's been a few issues along the way which I hadn't thought of and am addressing those.

At the end of the day I think everyone on here cares about the site and wants it to prosper. If the trial fails then I'll can it, if it doesn't fail then all good.

Depends what your definition of "a while" is.
It started in its first trial form on the evening of the 11th of August.
2 weeks seemed a reasonable time to have it in its initial format before making it public, I've been a couple of days behind as I spent 4 days in Brisbane over the weekend.

*EDIT: Guys, we have some good q&a's going on here, please don't ruin it with stupid posts, I've removed one and the 2 replies to it to hopefully keep this discussion civil and on topic, cheers. *

How can it fail? You're only inviting / allowing people into that area at your discretion & no-one else's. If you trailed it by allowing/inviting people in that you had hesitations on, then the feedback would probably be better.

It is after all up to the person logging on and their decision whether they wish to post and not the admins/mods.

Its a good point of debate, at this stage I'd prefer people that want to be there for the right reasons. I could be wrong, if I am I'll change it later. I've just got a felling that if people went in there for the wrong reasons it wouldn't work at this stage but we'll see how it goes.

You're missing the point. It's up to us the posters on whether we want to access a lounge / thread / topic (if we have access to it).

I can access the regional football boards but rarely do. I can see the politics forum but have chose to give it a wide berth.

If someone wanted to access the new lounge they can't unless you deem them worthy.

If they do access the lounge and find it a cesspool of shit, then that person just doesn't go in there any more and you can revoke access. Easy.

Another forum on which I moderate on has a "Senior Poster Lounge". You get access after posting a certain amount of posts (10k) or if your a mod/admin. Plenty of posters on this site have asked for their rights to the area to be revoked as they didn't enjoy it. Simple.

Not really, as I've created the forum and setup the current criteria you are the one missing the point. ;)
But yes, I think you have made some good suggestions and will take them into account. Thank you for your input. :)
