no wonder they are in their current position

Position not great but will probably still win the same ammount of trophies as your lot this season.
You cant win the EPL without spending ridiculous ammounts, thats just the way it is.
We can either sit on our hands and let the Chavs and Shiteh dominate for the next 10 years or join them in overpaying players, you guys will figure that out one day. Arsenal are financially in a excellant position, time to start waving the chequebook

the next you say we wont win anything.......

I still think you are a good chance in the Cup but if you dont win that you will end up with the same ammount of trophies as us this year.
And I do love Arsenal supporters reminding us of our drought and relegation years because at the end of the day its all about trophies won and we are miles infront.

What an absolute joke. Why not sell him and use that money plus the ridiculous amount he's going to get a week and start investing in the squad. Watch Utd collapse. With Rumors RVP is on the way out they should of used that money more wisely

Rubbish, we can afford to do both.
Sometimes you have to pay overs to keep players essential to the side. Would hate to see RVP go but losing Rooney would be far worse. He has shown his worth this season and has been our best player by a mile under difficult circumstances. We have the money and I have no doubt there will be plenty of money thrown away in the offseason, there will be a buying spree that has never been seen before at OT with 5-6 quality players coming in and several going out. Obviously with no CL we will have to offer higher bids to attract players but its just something we will have to deal with

You can still make Champs League next season, although to get there you'd have to do something Arsenal's never done lol

Im a realist though JK, there are some very good sides remaining in the CL, would be a miracle for us to win.
Need to get past Olympiakos first and then hope the draw is kind, a bit of luck and as Liverpool showed its not impossible to play better in Europe than domestically

How do you expect to start paying players that ridiculous amount of money a week if you don't have the finical side of the champions league. I'm sorry no player is worth 300-350k a week. its' almost 500k aussie. Two players should be near that category., Messi and Ronaldo.

Thats going to be the going rate in the EPL the next few years. The financial side of the CL is big but not as big as you make out. Even without CL next year United has budgeted to make a profit of well over $600m next year. One of the benefits of a big stadium is that its full every game and has a 10 year waiting list, matchday tickets alone for EPL games at OT this season will net us $250m +.
I do agree that the prices for Rooney are inflated but players in the EPL are generally overpaid compared to other leagues. Messi and Ronaldo would get easily that if they played in the EPL but its well known that in Spain you earn less but I think their tax laws are more relaxed.
You are also forgetting that Rooney and RVP are already on £300k per week as are several others in the EPL. He is only getting a slight payrise on what he has been earning for the last 4 years

You're way off the mark there Jim

OT will net Man U very little. Gate receipts will gross no more than £70m and that is turn over, not profit.
Gross profit for Man U after tax, ( remember they're listed now) will gross them no more than £300m including sponsorship and after interest that figure is more like £250m. Then you have dividends and expect those to be at least £150m based on 3% return which in the scheme of things is a poor return for non footballing investors. Remember once it became Man U Plc anyone could buy shares and a fair chunk of those investors won't be football fans.

Glaziers might have to offer a reduced dividend to finance the £200+m spending spree that they have promised Moyes but that level is not sustainable without affecting the share price.

Unfortunately United are now subject to financial market forces outside of their control and whilst they are the biggest club with the biggest earning capacity in word football they are also a Plc with many private investors expecting a return on their investment

Fair enough, the email sent out a few months back to members seemed to paint a more positive picture but I guess thats what all boards will do.
With any luck the rumours of the Glazers selling out are true and we can get a nice rich oil tycoon onboard. The Glazers are no where near as well off as they portray

He only got a £40k/week pay rise on what he has been earning for last 4 years, only fair with inflation lol

No disgrace losing to Stoke, a visit there is a massive Banana skin for clubs. When they get it right they are dangerous and Ive enjoyed watching them play this year when Ive managed to catch their game.

We are a middle of the road side with no chance of a title so it is not as big of a disaster as a side sitting pretty near the top with title aspirations.
We are afterall fairly close to Stoke on the table so not a huge upset ;)

Anyone else think Pardew is in deep shit?
Contact was minimal but managers shouldnt be interacting with opposition players like that.
