I can't see United gaining the title although they are likely to be the only serious contenders. Arsenal are still too light weight, Liverpool will improve under Hodgson but they were a long way off the pace and have too much to make up. City, well what can you say except I think they have too many there for the wrong reasons. Implosion around January.
CCC Burnley.
Forget any feelings of misguided loyalty, the clarets will be the real deal this year. Hull and pompey are debt ridden and won't be back for a long time. Laws has spent well in the summer and we are club with money, security and hopefully the core of players who showed they were too good for the CCC last time around. Leicester, Leeds and nottm Forest will be the big threats, but whilst Leeds are a "big club" we have to remember that they are coming up from a lower league and will need time to adjust. and of course they have lost their talisman in Beckford on a free to Everton
Lg 1 Southampton
Only just missed out last year despite a 10 point deduction and the shock of relegation. Have stabilised and will be a real threat this year. look out for Charlton who should be there or thereabouts.
Lg 2 Bradford City
If only because Peter Taylor is their manager. Terriffic strategist and man manager, and knows how to get the best out of any side. They've made a couple of decent signings and will be a strong out fit.
But hey, what would I know
