First story up..............

SPURS STILL WANT TO SIGN JOE COLE

Harry Redknapp has confirmed that Tottenham are still hoping to sign Joe Cole this summer.

The England international departed Chelsea at the end of last season and Spurs, Arsenal and Liverpool are among the clubs linked with the player.
Redknapp has revealed Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is in talks with the midfielder's representatives and a deal could be concluded for Cole to move to White Hart Lane.

Not suprising and Cole is a London boy born and bread so I'm sure he would prefer a capital club. He's already played for West Ham and Chelsea, so realistically that only leaves Arsenal or Spurs (no offence Fulham, but I doubt you could afford him). It is always a difficult wrench to move out of the bright lights.

HARRY ANGRY AT FRIENDLY SCHEDULING

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has launched a furious attack on the scheduling of England's friendly against Hungary.
The Three Lions face their first post-World Cup outing on August 11 at Wembley, just three days before the start of the Barclays Premier League season, when Spurs take on Manchester City.

Redknapp was quoted in the Daily Mail as saying: "Can someone tell me why you have an international week the week the season is starting?
"Can someone tell me what that is all about? They've just been away as a group together to the World Cup. They're probably sick of the sight of each other and now they're going to have an international week before the first week of the season, before we play Manchester City and a European qualifier."

Redknapp also had harsh words for those in charge of his own club, who put in place a pre-season schedule which included a tour of the United States and three tough home friendlies against Villarreal, Benfica and Fiorentina.

"We play Fiorentina on the Saturday (August 7), which is a nuisance, then they go off and play for their countries," said Redknapp. "I won't see them from Saturday night until Friday before we play Man City, not once. Why? What's the point of it? A meaningless friendly. The week before the season, when we should be training, working, getting organised for the first game, they won't be here. How can that be a way to prepare for the start of the season? Then you've got your fingers crossed that not too many come back injured."

Redknapp believes Spurs have not helped their chances of getting into the Champions League group stages by scheduling such a tough pre-season.

"It's been busy schlepping around the place," he said. "We've just come back from a gruelling trip around America. It's crazy. And we pile more games in. The last thing we need is to be playing games. We need to train. I need to get the players on the training pitch because all we do is play and recover. We should be working in training. Too many games have been scheduled. I don't know whose fault that is. We play too many games."

Agreed. We're all over the place. We had 2 sides playing at the same time last night. A Spurs XI played Ipswich and Spurs also played Benfica in Portugal.

WTF is going on?

One thing I do like about the scumfaces is that Arsene dictates where and when they play in the preseason.Du to sponsorship and the relentless pursuit of brand expansion, we don't have that luxury. :(

It is just a friendly. Absolutely ridiculous timing, but there's no real point whinging about it as all clubs are in the same position.

I wish harry would just shut up and get on with it sometimes. He says about 50% more than he needs to.

Managers need to wise up and follow what Liverpool's been doing for years - "Gerrard has a slight leg muscle strain and is not available for England".

If all clubs with international players took the piss like Liverpool have, FIFA might get the point.

EDIT - That's not having a stab at Liverpool as much as it sounds like it. I think they're a step ahead of all the other sucker clubs who just tow the international line.

Sadly when Liverpool report an injury it's normally true lol (but :( ) .. Gerrard, Torres, Kewell, Agger .. I was going to write Aurelio then but somehow I don't think he'd make his national team lol.

Good thing we're adding Joe Cole to address our medical room reputation

Personally i think Gerrard should retire from International Football and just play for Liverpool. England wont win anything during his career so whats the point.

Scholesy did this and not only did it extend his career he also played some of his best football the following seasons after this decision to not worry about the pressures of International Football.

Agreed.

Plus Upson and Green should just retire from football full stop!

Mate, it's been like that for years where friendlies are concerned. all the top sides pull the same scam. On this one, Harry is right though and at least he is prepared to stand up and speak out

How is it getting one back?
Gallas was delisted by Arsenal. Scumball was a required player who refused to sign a new contract so he could leave for free.
Gallas is 33. Scumball was 25.
Gallas is an OK centreback, who's well past it. Scumball was in his absolute prime.

Although, both are just as big a **** as the other
