Wolverhampton Wanderers Season 2010/11

I just have to post this, because I just can't believe our good fortune in offloading a player with Fletcher's ability and to get £6.5m for him is astounding.

Forget that he played for a club that was relegated last year. Forget that 6 of his 8 goals were scored when Burnley were already 4 - 0 down. He was just terrible. I can't remember all of the shoe in misses had or how many times he gave the ball away. Just terrible.

So good luck Wolves

WOLVES COMPLETE FLETCHER DEAL

Wolves have completed the signing of Steven Fletcher from Burnley for an undisclosed fee.

The Scotland international scored eight goals in 35 Barclays Premier League games for a Clarets side which suffered relegation straight back to the Championship.

The 23-year-old has signed a four-year contract, with the option for a fifth year.

Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey said: "We are delighted to complete the signing of Steven Fletcher. He was one of Mick's main targets for the summer and - just like last season with Kevin Doyle - we were able to register our interest early and get the deal done."

Fletcher began his professional career at Hibernian and was once linked with Real Madrid before a more natural progression to the English top flight.

Moxey confirmed that the deal equalled the record transfer fee paid by Wolves, which is thought to be the £6.5million spent to recruit Republic of Ireland striker Doyle last summer.

4 year deal with an option of a fifth year
linked with Real Madrid
£6.5m

You just have to laugh at McCarthy. comments like this just make him look like a muppet

McCarthy - Doyle worth £50m

Wolves boss would demand 'earth, moon and stars' to sell striker
Mick McCarthy has warned Wolves' rivals that it would take a £50million bid to make him sell Kevin Doyle and the Molineux boss insists that there has been no approach from Arsenal.
The Republic of Ireland striker has been repeatedly linked with the Gunners over the summer after playing a key role in his current club's survival in the Premier League since his £6.5million record arrival from Reading in the June of 2009.
