Robert Snodgrass ensured Leeds remain on top of Coca-Cola League One with a late winner to sink MK Dons.
Snodgrass' third goal of the season in the 92nd minute keeps Leeds out in front at the top of the table by two points from Charlton.
The Addicks beat Exeter 2-1 at The Valley, with the visitors' Bertie Cozic also scoring in the 92nd minute but only after Nick Bailey and Izale McLeod had given the home side a two-goal cushion.
Bristol Rovers are now four points adrift in third after they were held to a 1-1 draw at the Memorial Stadium by 10-man Brighton.
Jo Kuffour equalised for the home side in the 68th minute after James Tunnicliffe had scored 12 minutes earlier for the visitors, who had Adam Virgo dismissed on the stroke of half-time.
Behind MK Dons in fourth, Colchester and Huddersfield also lost ground as they drew 1-1 and 0-0 respectively at Tranmere and at home to Stockport.
Rovers ended a run of seven consecutive defeats in a game that saw eight players booked but were pegged back by on-loan John-Joe O'Toole shortly after John Welsh had opened the scoring in the 35th minute.
Tranmere remain one off the bottom and still five points clear of Southampton, who needed a 96th-minute equaliser from Radhi Jaidi to salvage a point from a 1-1 draw at Carlisle.
Third-from-bottom Wycombe also drew 1-1, needing an 89th-minute strike from Ashley Chambers to cancel out Kevin Amankwaah's 17th-minute opener for Swindon.
Leyton Orient lifted themselves out of the bottom four with a 1-0 home win over Millwall, with Andros Townsend scoring his third for the Os since arriving on loan from Tottenham during the summer.
Hartlepool were the league's highest scorers of the day with a 3-0 win over Walsall at Victoria Park thanks to a double from Andy Monkhouse and one from Colin Larkin.
Craig Alcock and Andy Welsh gave Yeovil a 2-0 win at home to Brentford, while a 76th-minute Pawel Abbott penalty was enough to give Oldham a 1-0 success at Southend.
At the Priestfield Stadium, there was a fifth 1-1 draw of the day as Gillingham were held by Norwich, who played the final 56 minutes with 10 men. After on-loan Newcastle goalkeeper Fraser Forster's dismissal, Simeon Jackson netted from the spot, only for the Canaries to grab an equaliser seven minutes into stoppage time through Darel Russell.

Colin Todd's four-month reign at Darlington has come to an end in the wake of his side's failure to beat Grimsby.
Todd confirmed following a 1-1 draw at the Mariners that leaves the Quakers at the foot of Coca-Cola League with two points from nine games that only a win would have saved his job.
"It was agreed (with the chairman Raj Singh) before today's game that if we didn't get the win then I'd be leaving," confirmed Todd to BBC Tees.
"At certain levels you're dictated by results. The time factor sometimes isn't long enough, but you have to take the rough with the smooth."
Darlington, who had Jamie Chandler dismissed in the 75th minute, equalised six minutes later through Colin Main.
But it was not enough for Todd after Robert Atkinson had opened the scoring for Grimsby in the 21st minute.
Bournemouth remain top, but it required a winner in the 86th minute from Brett Pitman to see off Burton Albion and give the Cherries a fifth successive victory at the Fitness First Stadium.
Dagenham & Redbridge have slipped to four points adrift in second after they were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Morecambe, with Phil Jevons equalising from the spot after Josh Scott had scored for the hosts.
New Rotherham manager Ronnie Moore looked on from the Don Valley stands as the Millers ended Barnet's eight-game unbeaten run with a 3-0 win courtesy of goals from Kevin Ellison, Nicky Law and Adam Le Fondre.
The chasing pack occupying the play-off places in Aldershot, Rochdale, Shrewsbury and Notts County all enjoyed big home wins.
Fourth-placed Aldershot beat Cheltenham 4-1, who at least levelled via a Justin Richards penalty after Dave Winfield had opened the scoring, only for Anthony Charles, Marvin Morgan and Scott Donelly to ease Town home.
It was a similar story for Rochdale as they were pegged back by Mark Pugh following Chris Dagnall's opener, but on-loan winger Simon Whaley, Will Buckley and Craig Dawson added one apiece against Southend who had Ryan Green sent off late on.
Shrewsbury enjoyed a 3-0 win over Northampton, who suffered a fifth successive loss, with the Shrews goals coming from Jake Robinson, Joss Labadie and Kelvin Langmead.
Lee Hughes scored twice in a 3-1 win over Port Vale to take his tally to the season for nine to keep Notts County seventh and at least end the week on a high for the Magpies following the Sol Campbell saga.
Bradford are up to ninth as they stretched their unbeaten run to seven games with a 3-0 victory over Chesterfield at Valley Parade, with Michael Flynn, Scott Neilson and Chris Brandon the scorers.
Bury required two late goals from Ryan Lowe and David Worrall to defeat Lincoln 2-0 at Gigg Lane.
Whilst a brace from Hamza Bencherif helped Macclesfield come from behind at Moss Rose to beat Torquay 2-1 following Elliot Benyon's opener.
