In local news Stoke have made their fifth signing with Bojan Krkic from Barcelona for an undisclosed fee. Seems Hughes has been pretty busy... I like it because he's trying to bolster our forward line, something lacking at the Brittania for a long time

I watch alot of soccer and up until the world cup hadn't heard of him. scores 6 goals in the WC and now is worth 71m, turn it up

Has been doing pretty well for Monaco and is onlyinhis early twenties worth every cent in the football world

You have to be in the top 5 players in the world to attract that sort of fee imo. 40 million at most 117 million aussie. Dead set joke

They get paid what the market is worth, he has been an exceptional player for awhile now. Definately worth it IMO

Not always about goals although that is his primary role. Also factor in his age and his projected improvement.
I think he has been very good for his side and obviously other clubs think so aswell because they weren't the only club throwing big money his way

I think they paid a bit over the odds for him, it certainly puts the pressure right on the shoulders of Hamez to live up to the figure. Real have 4 of the highest 5 transfers in history now I believe, not bad considering how ****** the country is financially.

Only scored 9 goals in a merde league but he showed his class at the World Cup, that volley was a beauty and his goal vs Japan was sublime also. Also had 12 assists or so for Monaco.

Hoping we get to add Vidal's name here soon. [-o<

Surely you have to show your class for more then 2 games at a world cup. 9 goals in the french league where your team finished 2nd. Giroud scored 21 the year Arsenal bought him.

When you break it down.
Ronaldo -90m worth it. Dominated one of the hardest leagues in the world for at least 3 seasons. 30+ goals seasons.
Bale - 100m still reserved about his fee but did score goals for fun in a 2 year span. Basically carried tottenham.
James - 9 goals. 12 assists in the french league. Not worth 71 m. Not proven enough for me 30 mill sounds better.

Just can't believe the fees these days.

Agree it's over but you pay overs for everyone now

I think that has about because of the really wealthy owners. It use to be only a couple of clubs like Barca, Real and Man U that could pay the ridiculous fees but now u have the likes of Man City, PSG etc et getting in on the act meaning in alot of cases clubs are paying overs just so a rival side can't have them.

^^ This. Think everybody is right in this discussion

Performance wise, he's miles short of the mark as MH said .. Potential adds a bit of value, but still gets nowhere near that £ value.

The market though as Jim said dictates the price. It's almost a case of whatever it takes to get him before some other billionaires do as WHUFC said.

And realistically it will only cost them 30-40 million in the end

He will either be a superstar and worth every cent or they will offload him to the next tier of clubs like Arsenal, Liverpool, Juve etc etc for 40-50 million

Bosnian midfielder Muhamed Besic has apparently signed for Everton and is currently away with the team on our tour of Thailand. The signing will be announced and presented upon returning to Liverpool once a few things have been ironed out.

Just makes me sick that Real offer 71m based on potential! Henry would of gone for 120m in today's market!

Sometimes its about demand on a player not their ability. Real probably only wanted to offer 20-30mill but once other clubs are interested a bidding war usually follows, just takes 1 or 2 silly bids and the whole thing escalates. Real dont like being outbid and like to flex their muscles so they were always going to have the final bid

As a player/coach I heard... I was dumbfounded to hear that they were bring in Drogba when they got Lukaku sitting there but then made a little more sense if he is going to move into a coaching role.

All signs look positive for Lukaku to sign with Everton... Martinez on record responding to a fans question 'is Lukaku going to sign for us" "course he is" was Martinez response and Lukaku on record saying he want to move to Everton permanently, just hurry up and get it done!!

I don't get those oil bastards. they spend big on all these one season wonders like torres and Costa (still EPL unproven) and they get rid of Sturridge who know has been tearing up for Liverpool and now they sell Lakaku who has the last two years dominated at West Brom and everton.

LMFAO .. Well put!!

They squeezed out Drogba too who was and probably still is miles better than Torres, but the owner insisted on the latter being the main man. Schevchenko was another great white hope that amounted to bugger all with them also. But meanwhile Sturridge and Lukaku have been scoring for fun.

Talk about getting busy, Liverpool have now signed Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Emre Can and Lazar Markovic and apparently are awaiting for a response from Divock Origi the Belgium striker after having agreed a fee for him.

They have also had a £20m bid rejected for Dejan Lovren (poor Southampton).

Can confirm that now - "significant undisclosed fee".
Has there ever been a bigger mass exodus from one club?

Street corner tip that Liverpool are trying to sign Matt Le Tissier also.
