What an absolute joke. Why not sell him and use that money plus the ridiculous amount he's going to get a week and start investing in the squad. Watch Utd collapse. With Rumors RVP is on the way out they should of used that money more wisely
Rubbish, we can afford to do both.
Sometimes you have to pay overs to keep players essential to the side. Would hate to see RVP go but losing Rooney would be far worse. He has shown his worth this season and has been our best player by a mile under difficult circumstances. We have the money and I have no doubt there will be plenty of money thrown away in the offseason, there will be a buying spree that has never been seen before at OT with 5-6 quality players coming in and several going out. Obviously with no CL we will have to offer higher bids to attract players but its just something we will have to deal with
You can still make Champs League next season, although to get there you'd have to do something Arsenal's never done lol
How do you expect to start paying players that ridiculous amount of money a week if you don't have the finical side of the champions league. I'm sorry no player is worth 300-350k a week. its' almost 500k aussie. Two players should be near that category., Messi and Ronaldo.[/quote]
Thats going to be the going rate in the EPL the next few years. The financial side of the CL is big but not as big as you make out. Even without CL next year United has budgeted to make a profit of well over $600m next year. One of the benefits of a big stadium is that its full every game and has a 10 year waiting list, matchday tickets alone for EPL games at OT this season will net us $250m +.
I do agree that the prices for Rooney are inflated but players in the EPL are generally overpaid compared to other leagues. Messi and Ronaldo would get easily that if they played in the EPL but its well known that in Spain you earn less but I think their tax laws are more relaxed.
You are also forgetting that Rooney and RVP are already on £300k per week as are several others in the EPL. He is only getting a slight payrise on what he has been earning for the last 4 years
