Even though the semi is against rivals City and United would love to stop them from winning that comp. It is basically a meaningless competition to the teams up the top, a good chance for some midtable league sides to win a trophy though.

But good to see that you are taking so much delight in watching United struggle, at least it takes your mind off Liverpool I guess. 8)

It also gives the top sides a chance to blood fringe players and give them some 1st team experience. Chelsea, Arsenal, christ even the Clarets did it away to Barnsley (Screwed that one up good and proper too  )

Perhaps I need a 'second club' to properly take my mind off the Reds struggles RM? That way I can have two bob each way?

Bill Shankly used to say if you're not first, you're nothing. From that point of view, perhaps United should go all out for the Carling Cup because they don't have the side capable of winning the Champions League and for mine, Chelsea will win the title even with the distraction of the African Cup of Nations...

So yes RM, Liverpool are enduring a terrible season and are out of the UCL and league title race, but the FA Cup is still very much on and at the end of the season it might be Liverpool with some silverware and United with none and the fact United are streets ahead of Liverpool in the league table will mean nothing because if you're not first.......

I have said all season that Chelsea are the team to beat in the league. I would also be very surprised if Liverpool win the FA Cup considering they struggled to earn a replay against Reading who are struggling in the Coke league.

Oh well you might get to win the first ever Europa Cup. :)

 you have to get past Reading fist mate, and then the mighty Clarets, who will have a new manager by then, who knows how to play a defensive game away from home. ;)

i wouldnt say im delighted to see United struggle, in fact im quite pleased with their progress considering the injuries they got and the young lads coming through, plus the departure of maybe your two most influential players last season, Tevez and Ronaldo. I would be more than happy to see United come out on top, and if they do it will be well deserved!

Liverpool on the other hand, hhhhhmmmmm where to start hahaha

That would be nice actually. We're a club that likes to create history, so yet another European trophy would fit in nicely in the trophy cabinet at Anfield.

For what it's worth, I thought Liverpool's second half at the Madjeski was really poor, but all credit to Reading who played well, pressured, harrassed and deserve their replay. Leeds did much the same, except they managed it away from home on a much better surface and they are in the third tier of English football. I'll take a 'struggle' away at Reading to losing to league one opposition at home any day.

I am certainly not taking anything for granted JTC but Reading will face a much trickier proposition at Anfield. Clarets will provide a stern test if we get past the Royals.

Coyle defo moving on then?

Indeed you have!

If you want to talk venues then we could go to White Hart Lane? Stadium of Light? Craven Cottage? or Fratten Park? the choice is yours

This would have been true in Shankly’s era when the FA Cup was just as important or even more important then a League title or European title but in this day I think almost every manager would take finishing 4th or better over winning the FA cup. It’s a shame as this is one of the most historic competitions in football but money has spoken. The romance and prestige of winning an FA cup is all but gone.

Some interesting games coming up with plenty of opportunities for the "minnows" to progress. there are four ties that don't involve EPL sides and a couple of ties where non EPL sides have a great chance of knocking thier more illustrious counterparts.

I can see both Everton and Bolton going out. Tie of the round? Spurs v Leeds maybe

i reckon southampton vs ipswich is the match of the round :D

And thank God they did it too, preventing yet another Spurs v Man U cup clash.
Jermaine Beckford has poured in the goals at Leeds - how is not playing in the CCC at least?
Liverpool looked like a shower of shite against Reading, so fingers crossed for the Clarets Reading can progress and set up a repeat of last years CCC playoff result.

As for the minnows, could Forrest Green (in the 5th tier), Gillingham, Brentford, Accrington Stanley, Notts County (with Sven Goran Escort as D.O.F.), Brighton (Under Gus Poyet ;) ) or heaven forbid Leeds sneak through to the 5th round?

Looking at the draw, I'd say Brentford are a reasonable shout if they can progress past Donny in their replay. The winner of Notts County and Forrest Green is also a good chance of keeing the magic of the cup alive given Wigan's shocking form.

He has been rumoured to go to Newcastle for the last six months and Wolves have shown interest as well. I'm hoping we keep him as he'll be such a valuable asset in the Championship if he re-signs when his contract runs out at the end of the season. He has dominated League One the past two seasons IIRC scoring bucketloads of goals.
I think the game against Spurs will be our last in the FA Cup this season, but if we keep Beckford and Kisnorbo is fit and playing well, you never know. We even started our best midfielder on the bench in Snodgrass.
