Quite often said that Liverpool would win the league every season if they only played top 4 sides.
How can a team look so good against United, Chelsea, City etc but look pathetic against lower sides. They have been like this for years, has to be a mental issue

So bloody true!! :(

I think it's the same reason as to why we've done well in Europe over the years .. Getting up for individual games against heralded rivals doesn't seem to be a problem, but maintaining that attitude for a 38 game season seems a near impossibility.

Also think that squad depth and A-Grade quality has been an issue over the years .. Take your mob for example - Not so terrible if you give Rooney a spell if you can have combinations of Berbatov, Chicarito etc still out there, with other top class players.

Liverpool always seem chock full of B or C Grade players, with just the 1 or 2 top shelfers running around.

sorry Mickey but - Two Feet, Studs Up + Off The Ground = Sending Off
The problem with Barcelona is that I like fish and chips but they had to turn it into calamari and patatas

Haven't seen the red card but the photo in the link doesnt make it look too good - won the ball but both feet off the ground, studs up into the shin... looks a leg breaker - but as I said havent seen it and photos can sometimes make it look worse than it is...
very important win for Fulham - 4 points from arsenal away and liverpool at home may be enough to kickstart the year after a slow start...

Can't disagree with you ID.

I haven't seen the tackle, but the players know the rules, and instantly dismissing them for such an indiscretion should see the incidences of such a dangerous act eventually reduced to very low levels.

Back to the game (which I haven't seen yet) .. For such a top keeper, Pepe's probably good for 3 or 4 blunders a year :(

Was going by the radio report regarding the send off.

Most Liverpool keepers are prone to some dodgy goals. David James, Dudek even the great Zimbabwe keeper Bruce Grobbelaar

I find generally the reporting on these red card incidents are quite bias - when it happens to a big club its a traversty, when it happens to a smaller club its warranted... doesn't help that the bigger clubs and their managers get so much more airplay...

Westerveld (sp?) another ... Pepe makes less than all of those mentioned (other than perhap$ Bruce) IMHO

Steven Gerrard signs deal to keep him at liverpool until his playing days come to a end (or near enough too).

at least He is not doing a Michael Owen and pledge his future to Liverpool, then disappear overseas and then end up as a has been at a club (newcastle), then struggle to get a game at Man U.

playing 10 games etc and only coming on as a sub is not winning a championship. He may have got a medal, but didnt prove himself worthy of the championship.

ANd all he really did or has done that i can remember is score against man city in the 150th minute of stoppage time :D

Scored a hat trick in CL and scored the first goal in the League Cup final when we beat Villa in 2010.
Was on fire at start of this season, had 3 goals in League Cup before injury.
Still think he has something to offer us.
Cost us nothing, came on free transfer and is on minimum wages.
Im sure he would have went back to Liverpool but they obviously didnt want him
