It's too soon to say .. Does look as though we've added a lot of "potential" quality, but we've lost one of the worlds best 5 players. I think we're a good chance to improve certain area's, but offensively we look depleted. I don't think we can bank on Sterling scoring more than a dozen, and Sturridge never gets through a season without his injury problems, so we'd want to get someone else that's at least reasonable, up front.

Haha don't tell me you lot get sucked in by the misquoting of UK football "journalists"?

Asked if Liverpool are a better team following the departure of Suarez, Sturridge said: "I think so, with the players we've brought in.

"No disrespect - he's a great player and will be missed - but we move on."

Now I'd say that unless Suarez had an incredible off season and was going to play as a world class striker as well as a CB then "with the players we've brought in" we have a better team. Yes we are weaker up forward but have arguably strengthened at every other position.

Years gone by conceding an equaliser in that fashion would have normally resulted in us dropping 2 if not all 3 points. United didn't always look pretty during their halcyon days, I enjoy referring to the past here, but they always did enough to get 3 points in the matches they were expected to. Last year we would have lost a match like that.

What would you like him to do when asked a question like that? Come out and say nah we are weaker and should probably just pack it in till next season.

Players say some stupid things but the media will do anything to drum up a story over there.

Now if we can just get Flanagan fit or bed in Moreno to play LB then we can flog Johnson off before the window closes!! Then the title is ours!!!

Ossie is good to go as far as I am aware, was an unused sub against Leicester

There's no doubt they hammed up the headline (as they always do) but I think the players Liverpool has brought in fall a long way short of compensating for Suarez's departure. Just quietly I reckon Sturridge thinks that too!

And of course Chelsea's first two opponents of the season happen to be newly promoted Burnley and Leicester. Hardly the biggest test they'll have.

And how does that work anyway. Last time we were in the EPL 1st home game was Utd
This year we have Chelsea and the Utd. Talk about a confidence breaker.
I know there are no easy games but the promoted clubs always seem to draw the short straw

And just to reinforce my point Man Utd don't play a team that finished in the top half last year until midway through October when they meet Everton. So talk about a leg up
