Not good
The only positive is that it may force the clubs hand to sign someone else before the window shuts

we will buy jimbo, another 17 year old no name Frenchman. Seems to be the major signing for us in recent years. If they are not French and under 20, then Wenger doesn't like them. Cazorla is the exception

At least they don't have any selection headaches.

Squad of 16 or so players so with the 3 injuries on Saturday they are no chance of being able to fill a full squad, I believe it's 18 players, for the CL Qualifier on Wednesday!

Here's hoping for a few more injuries so we can see Old Man Wenger pull on the boots!! Rumoured to be sitting on £160m yet can't find anyone who wants any of it.

Getting to be more comical than the AUFC administration.

Lucky for them the CL qualifier is meaningless
Arsenal will go through to the next round regardless of the result

read this on a forum before -

Any plastic Arsenal 'fans' who think Wenger is the problem need to take a step back and look at what's really happened. The demise of Arsenal correlates exactly with the move to the Emirates and the subsequent departure of David Dein, who resigned due to differences with the Arsenal board. Wenger offered to resign with him in support but was persuaded to stay by Dein who told him that if he left, Arsenal would go downhill.

David Dein was responsible for signing the following players: Dennis Bergkamp, Patrick Vieira, Emmanuel Petit, Marc Overmars, Thierry Henry, Davor Suker, Robert Pires, Sol Campbell, Gilberto, Gael Clichy, Kolo Toure, Cesc Fabregas and Robin Van Persie... Is there any coincidence that these were among our best ever players?

And the biggest signing Dein made was in fact Wenger Himself! Gazidis, Kroenke and the Arsenal board are to blame for the departure of David Dein, and hence the demise of Arsenal as a force in the league. Wenger, despite the issues in the board room, has performed a managerial miracle over the last 7 years.

Imagine if Fabregas, Nasri, Van Persie, Clichy and Song had all stayed - Arsenal would be absolutely solid. Why did they leave? They were offered more financially rewarding contracts elsewhere, and the greedy board members readily gobbled up the revenue generated from their sales.

Wenger publicly backs the board, but what else is he going to do? If he publicly announces that he doesn't agree with the way the board are running things, he would be sacked, or be on the verge of resigning. He assumes confidentiality and declines to comment on board meetings because he is a consummate professional. Even when he does retire, I doubt that he will reveal exactly what went on in the board room, although his side of the story would provide a fascinating insight. I will be the first to buy his updated biography! (if he ever makes one).

He is the only reason we have qualified for the Champs league season upon season... We now have a fantastic crop of young players with tremendous potential and (supposedly) the means to offer higher wages when contracts require extension. Let's see what this season brings.

Arsenal fans, be careful what you wish for!"

Wouldn't be so hasty saying they are through. PAOK lost to Metalist Kharkiv, who have also been banned for match fixing, in the 3rd round but are playing Schalke for the qualification spot. I suspect if Fenerbahce fail in their appeal Salzburg would expect to be granted a crack at Arsenal.

The financial windfall from CL football would be too great not to pursue a chance to go further in the comp.

Would be quite entertaining to see Arsenal play two games only to have to front up again to qualify.

wont happen, the rules are play offs, not another one after. if one team misses out due to bans then too bad.

Gee, what would LFC supporters or their club say if they were in the same situation? Im sure you would agree with me

Agree it shouldn't happen but I would say there is strong precedence with PAOK being allowed to compete despite Metalist being banned after the tie.

I would be ropable if it was LFC in your position but seeing as it's not and all Arsenal supporters I know had a good chuckle at us and were confident of landing Suarez I can't help but have little sympathy.

Interesting reading about Dein but in essence it is saying that Wenger doesn't really know how to assemble a squad and that Dein was the mastermind behind their success. Shouldn't be mentioning Song and Clichy in the same sentence as RVP and Cesc. Nasri made a mistake leaving when he did, as a youngster who had one good season he saw the £££'s and went. Wasn't the best thing for his development though.

or Dein bought or had a say in the players, and wenger had to put the side together and make it work..

It’s ridiculous to think that Arsenal should need to have signed new players to beat Aston Villa at home.

Not enough credit is being given to the opposition.

Terrible decision the 2nd penalty .. That said, you could have lost your keeper after the 1st one.

Well all Wenger did after the game was criticize refereeing decisions and ‘apologize’ to fans for losing (obviously considering it a massive ignominy to be beaten by Villa).

I certainly didn’t confuse his sentiments with “Well played Villa. You beat us fair and square and were the better side on the day”
