The flake

Robbie Cornflake is the most over-rated player in the A-League. I say this because what has he done? Ok, so he scored 3 goals in 3 weeks a little over a month ago but who couldn't when ur 6 inches taller than everyone else and getting quality crosses from the likes of cassio, jamo etc... They we're all off his head too... His foot skills, crossing in particular, are terrible, and he is constantly exposed by other teams especially Gamba in the 1st leg. I love the Reds and are frequenting many of their games, yet i'm continuously tearing out chunks of my hair due to 'the flake'. I say lynch him, or at the least get him out of defence.

I can't disagree with all that you've said there mate as Kellogs does certainly have his deficiencies, yet I still think he's a work in progress.

Tha Gamba players also made Costanzo and the big O look silly at times once the ball was on the floor, so RC was no orphan there.

I think he has reasonable pace for his size and that's not someone you want to give up on prematurely ... Sure he might not find the improvement required to have a long career, but he just might and I think he needs more time still.

I guess time will tell....

Certainly agree with you there CP. The big Cornflake wasnt the only one that looked out of his depth over the 2 legs. The fact he often looks ungainly and awkward means he makes an easy scapegoat. When we have alot of possession and he can get forward down the right he gives a useful avenue to attack. but when facing waves and waves of attacks (especially by skillful pacy wingers) then he is going to get beaten a fair share of times.

I would stick with him as he is going to get 5 or 6 goals a season (which is good from a RB who doesnt take penalties) and there arent that many players in the A league who will cause him the amount of trouble the Gamba players did.

I would much rather see us persist with Kelloggs than go with Valkanis

Amen brother ! Cornflakes is more of a CB then a RB anyhow. He only played in that position during the AFC as Alemao was ineligible.
If he had people running and coming in more of a central area of the park, where he can meet them HEAD on, and be in the box for crosses and use his height to clear then he is good. If he's used on the flanks i.e RB and has to keep with a run in midfield or wide flanker then he struggles.
What's the point of having the tallest dude out in the edge of the box etc. Won't cut off too many crosses from there.

He'll be back in the CD along side the big O this week, with Alemao on RB and Jamieson on LB and that's the better looking shape. Costanzo plays a more deep midfield defensive role and bingo !

Our best shape is a 4, 1, 3, 1, 1.
Alemao Cornflakes Oganovski Jamieson
Costanzo
Cassio Salley Reid
Dodd
Cristiano

Overrated????? I wouldn't go that far as he's hardly a highly rated player.

Definitely prefer him over Valkanis (only due to age/injury) but I'm still not a big fan, it would be nice to get a replacement but Viddie loves him.

I agree with Deemu, get rid of the flake!
Poor passer of the ball, makes terrible decisions and if soccer players had a clanger count he would be in double figures every game.
Why should you persist with someone, which is another way of admitting they have deficiencies, when they are a full-time professional and cant even get the basic things right (crossing for example).

The reds would be better off without him! It was interesting to see Gamba attack his side of the park and create openings regularly...they obviously did their homework!

I agree with those two comments. Cornthwaite had a bad game. Oh well, he has redeemed himself in the past and will probably do it again. Stick with him. He was drafted into the socceroos squad not long back. Does that mean he is crap does it?

I have no idea how he got picked for the Socceroos squad but Sarkies did as well and he's rubbish.

I think Pantelis should have started and Sarkies should have been on the bench.
