What a fantastic result for the mighty Reds. We were pumped from the 10 minute onwards yet still won 0-2, that second goal came from the heavens!!!

Spot on Thiele. Adelaide cannot give up the three points at home, and last year they only won, one away. They will beat the Vietnamese side as they are shite, so pencil in 2 away wins, get the three home wins and through to next round...
They squad will be strengthened too when Oge,Alvin, Micky & Ago come back in. A lot of defensive power there as well as a good striker....

Very good result for AU. They would have been happy with a draw but to get a 2 nil win is a huge bonus!

Jonas Salley - you're a lucky man. The boy really stuck his neck out last night didn't he....

Does that mean that we're money in the bank?

No way, still a long way to go. We must get the win at home next week first. It's not going to be easy but we can do it at Hindy.

Much easier this year with the top 2 from each group going througb.
Dunno if the prizemoney has changed though as that used to only go to the winner (maybe the other finalist too, cant remember for sure)

The commentators last night said only one team from each group would go through.

Didn't see the game so thought I'd ask you lads .... Advertiser article says that Salley was unlucky to get a 2nd yellow, is that right inyo?
If so, is it challengable?

He kicked the ball away after a free was given.
It was a soft kick and travelled about 15 metres away.
I would have thought it was a tough decision. But the ref was a very official official.
Right from Alagich's soft yellow, the players should have realised he was going to keep a tight rein.
Salley didn't.
It's also worth noting the first yellow received by the Pohang player who was eventually sent off was for a similar offence. That offence took place well after Salley had been booted, so it's not as if the ref was inconsistent.

Yeah unfortunately it's still the top team that goes through which is annoying, I think the next ACL will involve the top two though. They will also increase the number of teams as well which will be a good thing, you can't have a Champs League where only top qualifies.

Agreed, anyway, go Adelaide and go Melbourne. The ACL is an interesting competition as Im not interested enough to watch it on TV (unless an Aussie team gets to the knockout stage) but its the only time I'll support Adelaide (or Melbourne or Sydney), it'd be great if an Aussie team did well especially Adelaide, it'd bring a lot of exposure from a very big market in Asia IMHO.
Looking at the comparative salary caps between some of the Asian comps and the A-League its amazing that the Australian clubs are even competitive let alone win games as the gap is huge in some cases. Definately a credit to the clubs here that can compete on a much smaller budget/salary cap.

Good call Wedgie, and it's the comparative $$ between our league and others around the world, which, on the surface at least, would have to create questions in terms of expanding the A-League in a hurry ... We've see in comps like the NSL and NBL what it's like to have a large proportion of a competitions club struggling financially.

sensational win against tough opponentswe don't advertise it enough in Adelaide though. I also find it funny that Adelaide kept a clean sheet (Very luckily) for the first time in a long time and it was against the toughest opponents we have played.
