Holding shirts happens way to much at corners and deserves to be penalised as it would most definatly be a free anywhere else on the park.

Thought the ref had a great game!

Another laugh by Adelaide was the reported dummy spit by Cassio during the week where he stormed of at training and refuse to participate.

Yet he gets selected for the upcoming game. Discipline/Loyalty doesnt seem to be high on Rini's proiority list in both cases with both Cassio and Reid.

This coming from a supporter of a team with the worst disciplinary record in the comp and who lets a filthy prick like muscat get away with his disgraceful antics each week.

The positive for Adelaide is they are still able to save some money............................

They dont have to worry about building a trophy cabinet yet.

I can see a lot of people coming out with the "Same old United, finals chokers" stuff again, but yet again today I just thought they were beaten by a better team, pure and simple .. In fact in all seasons of the A-League, I dont think they've ever been the best team in the comp so it doesn't surprise that they haven't won the title.

Hughes has to go, in fact Jim I reckon you're pretty close to mark with your call on players.

Didnt expect to win the comp this season, I know we are not the best. But you should win all home finals especially after leading 2-1 that is a choke. They were not the better side tonight, i havnt seen the stats but i feel we dominated possesion and had by far more scoring opportunities, we didnt capitalise and gold coast to their credit put their chances away.

I thought Travis Dodd said on the news during the week that the dummy spit happened after training, Cassio storming off to the changeroonms at the completion of training because he wasn't too pleased with the intensity shown by some of his team mates? Could be wrong?

Hit the nail on the head big phil. Cassio was unhappy with the intensity at training and let his feelings known. Nothing wrong with that from a leader within the group.

Year was a definate FAILURE

we came from last to a semi-final after adding two quality players in van dijk and flores. we add a couple more for a full season next year (usucar, caravella) and cast off the dead wood from this campaign and i think we are on track.
All in all i think this season would be classed a pass but need to go forwards next year for it to mean anything.

Who do you think fits that category?
For me id get rid of cornthwaite, pantelis and bodrusic asap, hughes and watson on my possibles to get rid of and jury still out on slory but looks average at best but he needs time to settle in and get over niggling injuries.
And finally if dodd wants to go let him,he has one good game every 5 or 6 and when the team needed the skipper tonight he went missing, very ordinary game. I know its a heap of changes especially with leckie gone but we wont achieve anything with this current squad, lets cut the dead wood and move on

Those four you have named are definitely the ones i would be looking at. Cornthwaite is just a joke, pantelis is going on past achievements (although i think coolen has found him out). There's a reason why watson didn't have a contract at the start of the season and hughes season whilst better this year still not a gamebreaker that we need in midfield due to a severe lack of speed.

I think with caravella and usucar in next year our midfield looks a lot better. vin dijk, flores and ramsay up front and mullen coming back from injury down back the main addition i would be making is a strong central defender in the mould of djulbic or thwaite from tonights game. lets see if we can sell enough pale ales to afford one.

Congrats to those who were throwing bottles on the pitch. All class.

I really want to get into Adelaide United, but sheesh there are a LOT of tools who go to Hindmarsh.

Bring on the footy.

Poor in any form, but to throw them at a player who is down injured, and then to continue throwing them at him once he's come off the field injured is just a disgrace.

The FFA could make a lot better use of their hatamato thugs than they currently do.

The rubbish throwing last night was an absolute disgrace, as was booing Djite when he was being interviewed...pathetic. Who was the idiot player who tried to take on Pantelidis after the game was finished? Very bad sportsmanship all round.

Its no wonder the rest of Australia loves hanging shit on Adelaide when fans put on a display like that on national TV. Grow up Adelaide United fans, you give us all a bad name.

Completely agree with the comments on some AU supporters, and have been saying it for years .. There's some fair DH's amongst our lot!!

I haven't been able to get to an AU game all season and TBH I don't miss seeing the carry-on from some of our supporters .. Problem is that even watching it on Fox it's evident a lot of the time!! :(

Jim, do you think Bruce Djite deserved to be booed at?

IIRC Bruce Djite basically threw his toys out the pram when Adelaide initially rejected his request to sell him to Europe. Something about overvaluing him to the point where no club would buy him. He was under contract so Adelaide didnt have to sell him if another club didnt meet their valuation.

On yesterdays game I think a few questions need to be asked of Coolen.

1) Why was hughes preferred to Reid over the second half of the season?
2) Why was slory selected ahead of leckie in the 2 finals matches. Leckie has been back for over a month so should have been back to full fitness.
3) Coolen's recruitment - Usucar looks ok seems to break up the play but doesnt offer anything going forward. Bodrusic is guaranteed to make at least 1 massive cock-up a game which has cost us on a number of occasions. Slory looks very average. If we want an injury-prone winger why not just keep Dodd....at least he is proven in the A-League.
4) Interesting off season coming up - with a longer then usual break alot of players will want a loan to other leagues. Sounds like we will struggle to keep Flores if a half-decent Argentinian team puts in an offer.

Fair point swooper, but booing while any opponent (Muscat aside) is being interviewed is poor form IMHO. It doesnt come across very well on the TV broadcast and makes us all look like dickheads.

As for Dodd, he played like a man who wasnt interested and Perth can have him.
