I was thinking now that he is playing in some pretty obscure leagues there would be alot of players he would know nothing of wanting to swap shirts after every game. Would he just leave them on the change room floor or take them home & wear them around the house?

I am very happy that the second leg is here. If we had the first leg here I wouldnt have been able to go. It is of great advantage to us if we get through. Just think about the socceroos two campaigns against Uruguay. When we had the second leg here, we had the home crowd to get us through.

I actually enjoyed watching Rivaldo last night. If you look closely he rarely took more than 2 touches, one to control and one to pass, and he didnt waste the ball too much. Not bad for a bloke of his age! You have to expect the theatrics though.

Someone like Cornflake could learn a lot from a bloke like that. His kick and hope passing is shocking at times and you can see the frustration from his team mates like Costanzo when he boots it up the line in hope.

I agree with you CT, the Aussie chants are something the great man wouldnt have heard too often.

Great crowd last night. Dont think many of the players even heard the final whistle.

I was there last night and i didnt hear the final whistle but i was on my feet with everyone else and loved every minute of it.

I also think the crowd is getting the hang of the way soccer is supported. I think alot of the crowd is not from a soccer background but has started to support the Adelaide team which is great. The chants were a bit louder and went a bit longer so think come a final if we make it the place will be packed and everyone will be loud.....

Robert Newberry would be proud of his efforts. Adelaide came to life after the first goal, before that they werent creating many chances. Hopefully they get through to the final. Go U Reds!!!

In his long and illustuious career i dont think Rivaldo has ever had to contend with the "RIVALDO'S A W@NKER" chant that rolled around Hindmarsh last night!!

One of the chants seemed a bit more crass than that coming through the TV

Interesting comment made by one of the Foxtel commentators last night about the Govt not being aware of what they are missing out on by not having a stadium big enough to hold a decent crowd.
IMO that was worth noting by Rann & Co but will anything be done about it? I think not! :(

LOL I was just thinking the same thing CP - the commentators even paused to see for themselves if what was being chanted was actually being chanted!
Re the crowd I thought I heard a few collective calls along the lines of "In the back" and "too high".

More so if you are going to tell every bloke who dives to "f*** off!" the crowd will have plenty to do.

Not to mention the bloke was once World Player of the Year, little respect IMO.

Rivaldo was just a joke. Diving all over the place.

Why is it that soccer players have to put on such a b*llsh*t act like that clown last night. That's enough to win an Oscar anytime but there's no place for that crap.

It might look like a bull$hit act, but it can also win you a world cup as we Aussies well know!
I'm not saying there's a place for it in the game, but at times even Adel United players will do the same thing to take a break from the hectic pace and have a drink etc.
I think i have seen Simon Goodwin take more dives this year to try and earn free kicks. The amount of times that bloke throws himself onto the ground to try and win a push in the back decision is amazing.
Respect players like Rivaldo when they come to Australia...they will only make the great game grow! I reckon he was one of the reasons why so many people turned up last night!

I don't like to talk up Australian football but what Adelaide United have achieved is great for Australian football. No matter what the result is, they have changed the way football is played in Australia.

Watching the highlights from last nights game, i have realised just how far they have come, and it certainly is a credit to them, WELL DONE ADELAIDE UNITED! =D>

I had to laugh when KG and Cornsey were whinging because it wasn't attracting much attention interstate.
Adelaide are still 3 games from getting to the World Club Championship which South Melbourne and Wollongong have already done in the past, I don't exactly remember their deeds being front page news here!

It's a bit more of a mainstream sport now than it was back in the NSL days. I know some people still preferred the old days of sectarian support based largely on ethnic backgrounds, but the A-League has done a great job of stamping the problems associated with that out of the game and as such, along with the Footballroos success, widened the appeal of the beautiful game in Aus.

So while KG and Cornsey can bang on like the numpties they are, I think that they've got a bit of a point here, as the football journo's interstate would be well served to at least put a few words in their papers about the possibilities of the ACL trophy coming to Aus and following that the potential for Man U to play here too, which would be a massive boost for the game locally.
