Why would United want him now with Burns, Djite and Ago in the squad, they also have Dez Giraldi.

Correct RM, Halifax are in the conference. Not doing to well either. Was suprised to read the post that he was earning big bucks there. Wouldn't have thought Halifax can afford to pay anyone big bucks. Must get an average crowd of around 1,500. Never were very well supported as a soccer club. Halifax traditionally are a Rugby town.??

That will teach Adelaide for sitting on their arses, theyve missed out on a good opportunity there...Good luck to Smeltz and I hope he scores a hatrick when they play Adelaide

hang on correct me if im wrong isn't Shane a Forward??????? United have the best young forword in the land in Burns, a former child star in the NSL whose name escapes atm. back up includes Bruce Djite and Giraldi. I think our goal scoring spots are pretty much filled

What a ridiculous comment, not only do we have some of the most talented young strikers in the country in Bruce and Burnsy but we also have a bloke named Paul Agostino returning! You have no idea!

Agostino is a has been. Bruce and Burns are both good forwards but we are talking about an international player here.

Cheers RM Agostino is returning from the German 1st division isnt he???

Overloaded, I don't know very much about soccer but I think a bloke returning from the top league in Germany would have to be better than a bloke who has only scored 4 goals all season which included 2 for his country against Wales FFS. Also Smeltz plays in the BOTTOM leauge of professional football in England any lower and they are amatuers

Wonder if Adelaide reget sacking Smeltz. He cost them the game the other night after scoring late.
He is a much better player than h is given credit for.

Smeltz is a good player for Wellington no doubt. For Adelaide he'd be lucky to make the bench.
With Burns, Djite, Giraldi and some bloke called Agostino, not too mention that both Travis and
Lucas can play a more forward role, then no spot for him on the list...
No regrets at all for Adelaide...

Smeltz scored again in Wellington's 4-1 thumping of Perth. I watched this game and he was brilliant. How did Adelaide let him go?

Dude, Aloisi scored as well, and they let him go. He left Adelaide to try his luck in Europe. Good luck to him for coming back to the A-League after not making it over there (unless you call playing for a team in the Conference making it).
Who would YOU drop out of the Adelaide squad to fit him in ?

Well said SJABC, Shane felt that he should leave Utd and did. not sure if it was a great career move by playing in the bottom professional league in England and for a team based in a predominately rugby town but life goes on........................look at Tom Harley now

He has had a good start so far, and it's nice to see Wellington do well and sit in the top 4. The fact is, he wouldn't get a game with United right now. Bruce and Burns are just carving and Ago is a superb player who will only get better as the season goes on.

I don't think anyone here underrates him, just that Adelaide United would not be able to find a spot for him ATM.
If we didn't have Burns, Djite, Geraldi and some bloke called Agostino then perhaps we would have a spot. Have to
also remember it wasn't Adelaide that didn't offer him a spot, 6 other teams didn't either....
If we DID offer him a spot, there isn't anyone in the current AU squad that I would replace him for...
