Sounds like Montgomery is going to Hibs.
I could handle us losing half our championship side but losing Monty is a killer blow.
Be a miracle if the Mariners did anything this season now. :(
Oh well at least I got to enjoy the GF win live, one of the best days of my life!

Craig Goodwin has left Adelaide United to play in Saudi Arabia.
Huge blow.

Time to fold the club I reckon.

Looks like the Grand Final in Sydney is going to get scrapped and possibly replaced with a gather round of some sort.
I did enjoy my trip there in June though! But yeah Melbourne would have been closer and my son would have been able to go.

I can see where you're coming from now, club kicked him out to a place he didn't want to go without any negotiation, left that part out of their press release and they didn't even thank him for his time at the club!
Definitely won't be seeing him in AU's colours again.

Is that the truth or just a rumour? I saw his post about not saying thanks, although it was said in the press release.

They are run as a profit making business rather than a sports team IMO.

Its what Goodwin said and I had heard similar when it happened.
My club is a selling club too but at least we thank players for their service and let them leave on their own terms so we might get them back and/or making the club attractive for other players to come to.

Mariners announce their new manager.
Some dud from England named Mark Jackson.
Think I'd prefer the ex Geelong VFL player.
Going to be a long season and a huge contrast to the last one.

Just watched the Mariners beat some Phillipino side 9-1 in the AFC Cup. Actually should have won by more.
This Phillipines side wouldn't have even got close to a NPL side.

Awesome crowd at the Mariners first home game for their girls, not a great result (0-1 loss to Newcastle).

A -League finally kicks off tonight with a double header. About to head to the Hope Inn for pre match drinks as wouldn't mind seeing a bit of the girls game that starts at 4.30.
Mariners have looked after me again with 3 complimentary tickets. Got my Champions top, scarf and hat already to go!
Looking forward to seeing how both teams shape up tonight especially the young superstar Nestor Irankunda, be interesting to see if the Mariners still get Farrell to shadow him now we have a different coach.
See yas at Coopers or the Hope Inn!

Not super optimistic tonight or this season. But good to be back at Hindmarsh after the world's longest off season.

Mariners girls won their first game 2-1 over AU, came over and had a chat after the game too, nice girls!

Geezus I'm cold, only worn my champions jersey which breathes and it's about 2 degrees, stupid me thought it might be warm after I was in 35 degree weather yesterday.
Injuries taking their toll on my boys but loving watching Nestor play for AU.

Absolutely stunned at this result. Really was expecting a bottom 4 finish this season so pleasantly surprised at how they have looked at times tonight

Mate, we lost 6 of our championship side and our coaching staff!
Thought it was a good battle but when Kuol and Kaltak went down injured we were stuffed as only Tuluio could score.
Throw in the dive for the 2nd goal (there was actually an appeal later that was more a penalty) and Fazz getting a red and we were gone.
Why is the VAR been taken out for penalties this season?

Despite being freezing in a short sleeve top (was 35 where I was yeaterday) still glad I went as I got to see the girls get a win in their 3nd ever game, a phenomenal achievement against an established side!

It was freezing in the wind. No way in the world would I have rocked up without a thick jacket.

Yeah, first time I've done that. In my favour I did leave home at lunch. Lucky it's a summer sport eh?

I think I acclimatised though as I'm bloody hot laying in bed!
Long day after a 3 hour drive this morning and straight to the pub between that and the 2 soccer games! Will sleep well tonight if I don't have nightmares about Irankunda's runs with the ball!

Western United up 2-1 on Melbourne City, bloke who just scored a penalty did a hamstring celebrating it!
(I can't laugh too hard as I did a hammy when I scored my first footy goal)

Anyone know why they got rid of VAR this year? Some shocking decisions already that would have been fixed with VAR. :?
