May have done. He'd only signed with Adelaide for the ACL, so perhaps he just ensuring he's employed over the winter break...
His missus just had a kid in Sydney, so hence why he'd been AWOL.

Even if he doesn't play Og will be very handy...

Yeah but this report said he was signed in time to play this week or something.. remember Australian domestic comps are played over winter. I read it on the gate forum but it's down right now.

Anyway, you are right about Sasa. I can't wait to see him in the team, what a monster that man is... I couldn't believe it when I heard he was going to be a Red. Dominant in each box.

I think we should have beaten them by a much bigger margin and will need to really put them away at home now.

The last game against the Chinese team will probably decide who goes through IMO, (and just about everyone elses...LOL)

Definitely needed to win by more. Pohang won 4-1 there.
Very ordinary game, as was the coverage which cut out at one point and went back five or 10 minutes.
And what was with the crowd????? Very quiet.
Ceccoli, according to last night's commentators, is staying in NSW.

A win is a win. That's all the boys had to do...

How good does Og look ? He's a big unit. Welcome to the Reds.

Ceccoli can stay in NSW as he was signed as a back up anyway.

Well positioned now. Need TWO home wins and were just about there.

The conditions were pretty tough so it was good to get the important 3 points. We should thrash them at Hindmarsh. We will probably also need to beat Pohang here and maybe a draw in the final match. Still a long way to go before we make the Quarters.

I think the Vietnamese could have benefited a bit further if their South African star didn't play like he was auditioning for a) a break in a bigger league (would United look at him if we lost Burns/Djite OS?) b) any of the Olympic throwing events.

He was easily their leading light and gave us the greater hurry up of his team-mates. But they could've benefited further if he'd tried to bring them into the game more.

I reckon John The Claret could pick a celebrity XI from the Onkaparinga North Div 7 team that would beat that Vietnamese side.
Standard very poor, footage very poor as well as mentioned above.
DW - That Sth African player wasn't too bad,,,,,,great free kick of his too.

Two away wins from two though is excellent. We will have to improve when we play Changchun away but the Viet team did drag us down a bit I feel. We just have to make sure we win our next two home games. If Changchun and Pohang draw next game....

How did you work that out ?

As RM said, away wins in freezing shithole in Korea, and a humid hot stinking pitch in Vietnam, bloody good !

I don't care how they play, if they get the three points, they can play however the hell they want....

The Chinese couldn't spank us here, so as the results show, playing away does not scare the boys and IMO
they are a huge chance of getting through, especially with hopefully, Ago & Mikey V coming back in and
Bruce too !!

There was talk the other night that Ago could be back for our home game against the Viet side?? Wouldn't that be nice!

Our campaign last season gave us the experience required to take it to the next step, you can tell we are playing better this time around even though we are coming off a much shitter season. Melbourne on the other hand are struggling a bit.

Not bad at predicting eh????

United courts skilful Philani

ADELAIDE United fans will get a sneak preview of its pending gun signing Philani during the AFC Champions League clash against Binh Duong at Hindmarsh Stadium tomorrow night.

Philani is tipped to fill an Adelaide A-League void if Bruce Djite, who has an offer on the table from Holland's FC Twente, and Nathan Burns, linked to Norway's SK Brann, earn European contracts.

The South African creative midfielder won the hearts of Adelaide officials when United scraped past the 2007 V-League champion 2-1 at Binh Duong Stadium on April 9.

Contact had been made by Adelaide for Philani's services, Bing Duong officials confirmed after the Vietnamese side touched down at Adelaide Airport yesterday afternoon.

"It will depend (if I stay in Vietnam)," Philani said. "My contract finishes this season. I will take it from there."

While the former under-20 Befana and Befana national team member is focused on tomorrow night's match, he said only a move away from Vietnam would put him back in the shop window for South Africa's FIFA World Cup squad on home soil in 2010.

"A stronger league will be better for me," he said.

Adelaide is again expected to quell the slinky creative forward's marauding runs.

Philani, 27, put Adelaide under immense pressure when he scored a screamer from a set-piece in the 85th minute of the clash in Vietnam.

Despite an Adelaide contract awaiting Philani, he expected no favours from his future new club.

"It's going to be a tough game," he said.

"A draw would be good for us and I'm hoping to get one (a goal) again.

"Maybe we can win it - it's possible."

Philani Bhekiziz We Lancelot Kubheka, to give him his full name, was "discovered" by the V-League champion after a stint with South Africa's Orlando Pirates.

"My agent got me to Vietnam," he said. "I've been there for three seasons now."

Buoyed by a 2-0 V-League win over Da Nang last week including a goal from Philani, Binh Duong also arrived in town with its other import, Brazilian Robson De Lima who was sent off against Adelaide.

However, De Lima won't take part tomorrow night.

Binh Duong coach Le Thuy Hai has opted for just one training session before meeting Adelaide.

The V-League champion's players did some serious shopping in Adelaide yesterday after settling in at the Hilton Hotel. They will have a one-hour familiarisation session at Hindmarsh tonight before the showdown.

While Binh Duong's chances of making September's AFC Champions League quarter-finals are dead Hai said they're not here for a recreational break.

"Every match we have to play seriously," he said. "Adelaide has some very good players but the two strikers Travis Dodd and Nathan Burns - very dangerous."
