ADELAIDE United fans will get a sneak preview of its pending gun signing Philani during the AFC Champions League clash against Binh Duong at Hindmarsh Stadium tomorrow night.
Philani is tipped to fill an Adelaide A-League void if Bruce Djite, who has an offer on the table from Holland's FC Twente, and Nathan Burns, linked to Norway's SK Brann, earn European contracts.
The South African creative midfielder won the hearts of Adelaide officials when United scraped past the 2007 V-League champion 2-1 at Binh Duong Stadium on April 9.
Contact had been made by Adelaide for Philani's services, Bing Duong officials confirmed after the Vietnamese side touched down at Adelaide Airport yesterday afternoon.
"It will depend (if I stay in Vietnam)," Philani said. "My contract finishes this season. I will take it from there."
While the former under-20 Befana and Befana national team member is focused on tomorrow night's match, he said only a move away from Vietnam would put him back in the shop window for South Africa's FIFA World Cup squad on home soil in 2010.
"A stronger league will be better for me," he said.
Adelaide is again expected to quell the slinky creative forward's marauding runs.
Philani, 27, put Adelaide under immense pressure when he scored a screamer from a set-piece in the 85th minute of the clash in Vietnam.
Despite an Adelaide contract awaiting Philani, he expected no favours from his future new club.
"It's going to be a tough game," he said.
"A draw would be good for us and I'm hoping to get one (a goal) again.
"Maybe we can win it - it's possible."
Philani Bhekiziz We Lancelot Kubheka, to give him his full name, was "discovered" by the V-League champion after a stint with South Africa's Orlando Pirates.
"My agent got me to Vietnam," he said. "I've been there for three seasons now."
Buoyed by a 2-0 V-League win over Da Nang last week including a goal from Philani, Binh Duong also arrived in town with its other import, Brazilian Robson De Lima who was sent off against Adelaide.
However, De Lima won't take part tomorrow night.
Binh Duong coach Le Thuy Hai has opted for just one training session before meeting Adelaide.
The V-League champion's players did some serious shopping in Adelaide yesterday after settling in at the Hilton Hotel. They will have a one-hour familiarisation session at Hindmarsh tonight before the showdown.
While Binh Duong's chances of making September's AFC Champions League quarter-finals are dead Hai said they're not here for a recreational break.
"Every match we have to play seriously," he said. "Adelaide has some very good players but the two strikers Travis Dodd and Nathan Burns - very dangerous."
You're my only friend, and you don't even like me.
