Full Time
Sydney 0
Suwon 0
The way the commentators raved on you think sydney had perforned the great escape. The fact is both sides are ordinary, suwon finished 7th last season. Sydney still dropped points at home which you cant afford to do. Sydney will go to japan and get whacked next game, they wont get through group stage

The first ACL qualifying spot is given for first past the post winner, while the second in Australia is given to the winner of the finals series (or the other grand finalist if the double occurs). In countries where no finals series is in place, the qualifications go to the title winner and the cup winner. The finals in Australia are viewed for ACL purposes as 'the cup'.

Hopefully that all changes soon canine voyeur.
Australia's obsession with a finals series is bordering on ridiculous when it comes to football.
A team from 3rd, 4th etc can have a good finals series and win the Grand Final (and a spot in Asia) at the expense of a teeam that has been the best, or 2nd best performed team over 20-30 games.
I know that can happen in aussie rules, but there are other more lucrative prizes up for grabs in football and that should go to the best team over a regular season.
Scrap the finals and let the top 2 get into Asia or create a cup competition and 1 spot for the winner of that comp and the other to the team that finishes the season on top and call them "champions".

I would think it started out as a way of following the Aussie finals obsession.
But the A-League had the chance to break that tradition when it started, it was a fresh product.
The money is the key here - good crowds in finals.
Hopefully we see a cup format in the future.

Melbourne lose in Asia yet again, not sure why they even bother really.

This time they lost 2-1 to Jeju at home.
