Whether or not you have these blokes, I think these were important players to start with the benefit of hindsight:
(note this is for Supercoach but feel free to nominate the same for DT)
Sidebottom - pick of the year!
Dangerfield - priced around 82, averaging around 105
JP Kennedy: really stepped it up
Stanton: previously only considered for DT but has become important for SC this year
Porplyzia - bargain priced and while only averaging 77 so that is great compared to the thin rookie priced alternatives up forward
Ablett - despite missing 2 weeks
Pendlebury - one bad game made him affordable early
Lake - terrible round 1 but averaging around 92 in the other games
Clarke - looks like being a keeper priced at $170K
Giles - looks good enough to be a keeper ruck, amazing scoring
Rookies - Bugg, Magner, Shiel
Missed anyone?

A super coach one, Jordan Lewis has raised his bat nearly every week.
Unlikely to have a massive 135+ score. But he's doing a job for me.
Lenny Hayes in my dt.

Selwood misses too many games through suspension and injury for my liking, love the way he plays but has a blatant disregard for his body.
Porpoise misses too many through injury aswell IMO. I've selected him most years in the past.

You aren't wrong with Wingrectum though, he's been the standout in both games.

I agree with your point on, Selwood the last time I will pick him as a starter.
Also Porpoise is scoring well and adding value.
What will be interesting if next year we go to 2 +2 subs on the bench, how will that affect the rookies? I suspect they will not mature until round 16-18..............too late......
Next year's tactics will rely a lot more on what Hondo is touching on.... pick the best mid level cattle that in fact will become guns.

If they have 2 subs next season I agree the mid pricer strategy will be the go. either that or they will have to modify the rules to help us.
I felt at $600k Selwood was a good starter this year but I agree when fully priced he does become a better upgrade target.

I've heard the coaches are trying to get the sub rule scrapped, whatever it's aim was I don't see it working, there's more injuries it seems than previous years.

Ken Oath, I picked up Lake with a bit of loose change in my ashtray and have been most impressed so far, I can't see him going backwards now either.
Horsley continues to ton up aswell, it's been the worst year for rookies maintaining good point form, few and far between, there were heaps more last season.
