What rookies do people think will be lining up in round 1?

Good question, after a couple weeks of NAB more rookies have dropped off my radar than have become locks which is a little depressing.

Only three of my initial rookies are still on the watchlist. The list is getting thin and I am now contemplating a third mid pricer instead of a rookie due to the uncertain ST playing future of a number of rookies. I think I can make more money earlier this way and hopefully pick up some of the others when they get a chance latter in the season. Bigger risk but maybe bigger reward.

I've been scanning the points from each match, not a lot of consistency from this crop yet, well not enough to be comfortable to lock-in.

Yagmoor has probably been one of the most consistent. I'm undecided on Wilkes, thought he looked the goods but scored jack shit. Bugg started well.

I'm not one for cash cows, I like to pick the right rookies from the outset and if they score consistent tons then they're keepers. I've done well with my rookie choices in recent years but I'm a bit stumped this season.

I've had Barlow, Curnow, Heppell and Lower amongst others over the past few seasons, I picked them all up when they hadn't had a price rise.

Don't think Wilkes will be a big scorer (in a similar vein to K Hunt) and am looking to other rookie options in defence.

Wary of Collingwood rookies and their lack of JS.

As soon as Magner gets elevated he'll be in 90% of teams. Ellis would be in most teams and also think Wingard is worth the price tag. Keen on Kerridge at the Crows.

I agree Wilkes and Mohr are big negating backmen who may do a good job but no good for SC scores. Geelong and Collingwood rookies are very risky with JS when the guns come back. Darley and Neale are looking good but JS for Neale may be an issue. The WCE rookies are looking good but when will they play and how often?
Some of the JS issues will not be known until after the last NAB when full strength teams will be fielded. I like the look of Tom Ledger (although only one hit out and Yeo is doing very well.

Has Shaun McKernan come of age, he's killed me previously but has had decent points this season in NAB Cup.

Hard to say where the limit is of pilfering GWS's young-uns. So many seem to be well priced and good to sit on the bench or use as cash cows.

To add further to the confusion in NAB 4Cam Guthrie had 18 possies, Steve Morris 26, A. Kennedy 23, Tory Dickson 89DT points, Smedts injured thumb, Hall Hammy still hanging around, Magner thumb but the biggy Dylan Shiel played in the reserves on the weekend ……..Round 1? :?

Guys,

With the partial lockout.

How does it work with GWS/SYD players substituting on/off the ground & between positions next week?

Are they locked into playing Round 1 if I select them on the field and likewise not playing if I start them on the bench?

That's what I'm led to believe.

Has Melbourne got any long term injuries for Magner to be elevated?
Smedts came off for precautionary measures apparently.

Ah, the pain of it all, so much rides on the initial selections.

Melbourne has 2 spots available I think. I reckon he's still a cert to be upgraded.

Only needs to be done if its it their nominated rookie. (if they have room on veterans list which I'm not sure they do). upgraded rookie can still occur before round 1 to take someones spot who has been placed on the LTI list
