Round 18 - Teams, Trades and Discussion

Postby cossi11 » Mon Jul 18, 2011 10:23 am

This week we will see some strong teams with Port having the bye as not too many teams would have any premium players in their line ups from them. Could we see the HOGG's first 2,700??

How courageous is that bloke! can never question his commitment...
I dont think many coaches will have him so shoudlnt be a big issue for coaches but i was close to bringing him in this week, was very cheap and thought he would be a unique pick heading into the finals, thankfully i went with Colin Sylvia instead (this was for DT)!

No trades for me. My season is on a tight rope with not enough trades at this stage but probably enough trades if I can avoid trading for 3 weeks. I have to be disciplined with trades and hope for now Heath Shaw style forced trades. Then I have bye problems in round 20 (Boyd), round 21 (Harvey, Petrie), round 22 (Bartel, Enright and Chapman) and round 23 (Judd).

No trades for me. I'm a bit worried about Pendles though. I reckon he could be a candidate for a visit from the general. Ditto Chapman. I have coverage for both but if they were rested it would impact my scoring and I'm playing Squeakeroos DTC this week who are a high scoring team.

regards,

Is Cyril back? Im so sick of N.Riewoldt, he is now my F8, so i'll play Cyril over him.

Nick Lower might also find himself on the bench for me this week after a 146!

Shaw and Brown last week, who will it be this round? At the rate I'm going I'll be fielding a worse side than I started with by the time Round 21 rolls around.

Most likely no trades this week. Got 6 in the bank, and play two relegation zone sides to close out the season. Tempted to trade in Talia as it would open up a MPP link with Bob Murphy in defence, but I don't really think I've got enough trades to be fiddling around too much from now on.

Very happy with my lack of bye exposure come finals also, with only 2 players from bye teams. If I can ice the last two games of the year without too much drama and make the finals, I reckon I might surprise a few teams above me who have relied too heavily on Geelong & Carlton players.

Gingernuts, yours is the exact type of team that will likely roll me in the finals. It's been a dilemma of mine all season about whether to avoid these guys with the late byes. I have said all along that a properly set up league team will be my undoing in finals.

Apparently the AFL have announced that next season will have no byes (thank god!) so we won't have these sort of compromises to make.

5.

But Talia looks tempting... Just a bit late for cash cows

Hondo- I actually prefer the Byes, it requires more planning and allows more bench players!

My team has been set up for points this season not to win the league. I have it worked out that i will have 1 carlton and 1 geelong player out during the finals, i have no essendon or north melbourne players

The problem I'm finding with having no trades left is that 32 of my 33 players are available, the dilemma being who to put on the field. Last week I had Lower, Dangerfield, Pedersen and Prestia all on the bench for a total of 458pts and with the hawks having the bye, this week Hale,Smith and Bailey are in the equation also, along with Didak and Callinan if they come up.

I do have the cash spare to bring in someone like Fyfe as a floating cover player for my mids and forwards and that should be enough for who I need to cover. It's whether I have the luxury of being able to do that by then.

still got heath shaw on the bench this week dont know whether to trade him this week or next or even after that. i dont really need to atm just means lower and heppel will be on my field this week again.. which was good last week but they could both pull 50's this week..

i can scrap in finals for my hogg div 3 but could just as easily go down a div..

Ginger, have gone the same way. No North, Geel, Carl, Ess players in my side except Gibbs who is about to be traded. 5 trades left but will go into finals light as only have to cover injuries and not byes. Like many, will be hoping for a minimum of LTI's from here on ...

No use trading out geelong players unless you play the 2nd weeks of finals, if top 4 and win the first week you skip the Geelong bye.
