I immediately regret my decision....

Postby Gingernuts » Fri Jul 08, 2011 2:33 pm

Was going to start this thread a couple of weeks ago and noticed some discussion in this weeks trades thread, so here goes.

What has been your biggest clangers of the year so far?

I've had a good year but made a couple of shockers that have cost me:

- Higgins to Tippett after Higgins first bout of 'general soreness'. Saw Tippett live and he looked like he was moving well. Adelaide had a soft draw and - yea well, you know the rest.

- Upgrading Petrie to Cox instead of MPPing Tippett into the ruck and upgrading him. Petrie up forward would've given me victory in a couple of close games this year.

- Giving Tippett the captaincy one week. WTF was I thinking???

Anyone done anything better than these?

Shitting my pants when Chappy was being visited by the general and trading in the woefully out of form Alan Didak who hasn't given me squat.

My captaincy selection nearly every week DOH.

Hang on. None of that beats Gingernuts' efforts in the ruck this year. And he's in career best form ha ha.

I havent made too many trade blunders apart from selecting thompson ahead of ablett when i had the chance too and that ship has well and truly sailed :(

My defence has let me down this season and it was through a few initial selections that have left me wasting trades trying to put together a reasonable backline.

Also selecting jack reiwoldt over stevie j has turned out to bite me.

1) I have no Hawks or Cats players. Disgusting.

2) Chris Dawes

3) Traded Shane Savage for about $260,000 when he started sub for Hawks against Port.

My biggest boo boo was trading out cox for Hille when they had a bye and then trading out someone else on the same day and then going in the week after and not having enough money to trade Hille back for Cox. Had to waste two more trades just to get him back. what a knob head.
So you've seen everything have you?

Tippett. I will never ever go near him again.

I deliberately steered clear of Adelaide players this year and it has worked beautifully. Still had to get sucked in once though. :?

- Not trading in Ablett a few weeks ago when he was quite a bit cheaper and I had the cash then. Would've have actually won a league game or two if I'd pulled the goddamn trigger.

- Not trading out Rioli and Sandilands...THE FIRST TIME

- I regret my entire forward line...bunch of big-names doing SFA. Only one of them is in the top 7 point scoring forwards thus far.

- I regret taking this stupid game so seriously.

1. Captaincy every week.

2. Trading Mumford in 1 week without knowing he'd gone down with injury, so then using the other weekly trade to swap him over

3. Trading Mumford back in and then he immediately gets suspended.

I don't think I take this game seriously enough lol

Great thread Ging!

Picking my side the day the comp opened and waiting 7 weeks into the season to look at it again...

Also,

Petrie/McIntosh as my rucks, Bailey on bench... Now Petrie/Bailey, but I can't afford to burn two trades to get rid of McIntosh for a rookie and upgrade another player, and I can't afford Cox for McIntosh.

K Hunt... Pooh. And not worth enough to trade, seeing as though my benchies now don't score...

Picking too many from one club.

Nth Melbourne (Rawlings, Petrie, Harvey, Edwards, Atley) bye week slaughtered me...

This week I already have three donuts.

Gray --> Chappy in round 7 when Chappy was $540K. I reckon since then Gray has scored the same yet I burned 2 trades and $200K.

Libba --> Wallis in round 7 (bad trade week!) when Libba was rested. Wallis has played about 4 games.

Round 3, trade Otten in. Round 6 trade him out when he rose only $50K. Now he is back and I wished I had kept him yet I really should never have traded him in at all.

Starting Andrejs Everitt

Well I can add another one to this list. Wasting 2 trades to get Ablett in on a bye week, only to have him stuff his knee.

Forgot that one, started with him, traded him out, then had to trade him back in...

I have 5 trades left, an injured Jobe on the pine, and now an injured GAJ...

I'm reading that it is a suspected medial ligament injury, which could mean 4-6 weeks on the sidelines for GAJ. Scans need to confirm it though.
