its finally here the dreaded 3 team bye
going to be some terrible scores this week.. the guys at the top will be ummming and rrrrring weather to trade up to stay in contention, me myself wont be trading this week... simply because im ranked in the mid 30 thousand and im 1-2 in hogg shield and 2-1 in lobster.. next week may be a different story because i can already upgrade a rookie to a premium and my forward needs all the help it can get ATM and try and be ready for round seven
what are other peoples thoughts?

I have coverage at this stage, but I'll be in trouble if there are any omissions from the weekend's teams.
Relying on a heap of rookies to score well won't see me jumping up the SC ranks, but I reckon most coaches will have the same reliance anyway.

It's just sad putting guys like Goddard, Higgins & Riewoldt on the bench.
Pretty certain I won't side trade at this stage, just rely on rookies and mid-pricers.

Yeah there's a lot of money on my bench this week but at this stage I have emergency cover on every line.

Be interesting to hear the thoughts of 'Has Beens' and 'MILLERS MOSQUITOS' who are still within range of overall lead - will you fellas be trading aggressively to stay at the top?

I'd consider it but I cant really see a viable trade that would improve my team. Probably sit tight til after rnd 5 or 6. Goodard, Roo, Higgins, Bewick and Libba out this week and Goodes, Darling, Tapscott, Cox, Grimes next week but got all my rookies playing so will hopefully still be able to score OK.

I picked my team to manage these bye rounds so I only have 1 premium missing this round, 2 missing in round 5 and 2 in round 6. Where I will come unstuck in the league games is round 7 when I will have Shaw, Pendlebury, Krakouer and Swan missing.
I intentionally picked Jobe Watson because he is bye friendly but of course he has a bye in league GF week so I will have to save at least one trade on a known out if I hold him that long, assuming my luck holds out that long and I am still alive in the Hogg.
It's tough to balance up the two goals in one team.

It would sensible trading in an Adelaide, GCS or North Melbourne player as they've already had a bye, but there really isn't any standout premiums or rookies to bring in.

Watson to GAJ midway through the year is the obvious trade.

Yeah, that was actually the plan but Jobe has exceeded my expectations so far and seems primed for a step up to super-elite status so I have changed my thinking.
I think Gaz still has to come in but now I think it has to be some other way.
That said, trading Watson in round 10 to Gaz avoids both their 2 byes.

I've got full cover this week no trades required.
Time for a few rookies to step up.

Riewoldt, Montagna, Goddard, Boyd, Higgins, Libber and Adcock all on the pine this week. Still managed to get them all covered but won't be getting much of a score though.

No head to head games for a couple of weeks, so no need to do too much
