This thread is for anyone who wants to join the Hogg Shield in Season 2011. Yeah, I know it's only December but organising these leagues at the last minute is a nightmare. I'd like to be able to fill the leagues as well as we did last year so that we don’t have to many randoms in the any Hogg Division.

What is the Hogg Shield?

The Hogg Shield is a series of leagues in the Herald Sun SuperCoach online fantasy football competition. The Hogg Shield will be in its 5th season in 2011. Last year there were seven divisions in the Hogg Shield: Hogg Premier League and Hogg Divisions I, II, III IV, V and VI.

Most Hogg Shield participants are from this site but there are also some posters from the site AFL Online and they include people from all over Australia. The reigning premier, Darcy is from WA, so the Sandgropers have now gone back to back. The ultimate aim of the divisional system is to increase the standard of the higher Hogg leagues as well as producing leagues that pit you against coaches of a similar ability so that everyone has a shot at winning the flag.

How do I get into Hogg Premier League?

To Qualify for Hogg Premier League you must make the Grand Final of Hogg Division I.

The Grand Finalists of the first four divisions get promoted and the losers of the relegation finals get demoted. Invitations will be sent out to all coaches so if coach chooses not to accept their invitation then the next highest ranking player will be promoted into the league above. Normally this doesn’t happen at Premier League level but one Premier League coach did call it quits last year and Quichey was the coach who snaffled the last minute call up.

I was in last year. How do I sign up again?

Last year I had to chase up a heap of email addresses and I’ve got all of them now except for Wedgieboard posters Shae and Jimmy who coached Division VI sides Nutkickers and Prestige Worldwide. When the leagues are created (early February) on the SuperCoach site then the invites will be emailed to you. If you have updated your email address in the last 12 months please PM me with the address so I can send out your invitation.

I am a newbie. Can I still join the Hogg?

Newbies are always welcome as we normally have a few coaches drop out each year. If you are a Newbie who wants to join the Hogg please post in this thread and PM me with your email address and tell me how many points you scored last season if you played last year so we can put you in the right division. Unless you are an absolute gun SuperCoach you will probably end up in what is called the Pool. The Pool are all of the lower divisions and qualification to Hogg Division III is offered in order of total amount of points scored rather than the promotion system of the higher divisions.

Promotion/Relegation leagues

Hogg Premier League
Hogg Division I
Hogg Division II
Hogg Division III

Pool leagues

Hogg Division IV
Hogg Division V
Piglet Shield
Bunny Bowl

Im hoping to retain more of the coaches that aren't all that serious about SuperCoach by creating a 'Bunny Bowl' so all of the rabbits can graze peacefully without being spanked by SuperCoaches who forget what their kids look like during the football season. The Bunny Bowl is for coaches who scored 39,999 or less in season 2010. The Piglet of course, is my family league.

I'll also be asking for volunteers to be a league captain for the various leagues especially in the middle of the pack Hoggs II to V. League captains will need to post ladders and scores and write up some bullshit every now and then so we know what's happening in the other leagues. I'll still be posting league and team rankings next year so I'll need someone to post me the scores.
