Mantagna scores 140 and averages 120, and drops 22000 on the weekend and 50k overall :?

Check out Fan Footy or Too Serious for the answer to that mate. It's far too complicated for us mere mortals to try and explain. It has something to do with a 'magic number'. What makes those cakes turn? Who cares? ;)

In short, a player's value is based on a rolling average of his previous three games. If Montagna had a sub-100 score in the two games before the last one it would still be in his rolling average and bring his price down.

Montagna had a high price to start with, probably the equivalent of a 130-135 avg, which is why his price has dropped with his current avg of 120.

Best explanation i can give:
Magic number: this is the number to determine players values at the start of the year, for this example we will use 4000 (which is around the mark anyways)
Now for each point a player averaged last year they get a price, So if the magic number is 4000, someone who averaged 110 last year would be $440,000 (4000 per point) and someone who averaged 70 would start at $280,000.

Prices only change on a 3 round average, so if for the first 2 rounds:
Player A (ave of 110) scored 100,80 his break even score would be 150 to average 110 and stay at the same price. If they score 100 the would be 50 below their average and will get a negative price change, in this instance it would be $20,000 (magic number 4000 per 10 points)
Player B (ave of 80) scores 100 and 100 his break even would be 40. If he scores 100 again next round his value will go upwards of $24,000 due to the increased average of his scores.

Hope that helps you to get your head around it :)

Thanks Groover, that's the easiest explanation that I've seen so far. Too Serious had a bit too much info, that was more bite size.

thanks for the replies, still struggling to work it out though....lol

So Montagna starts at $668,200.

R1 scores 115
R2 152
R3 120 $-7400
R4 81 $-21,200
R5 140 $-22,000

Still doesnt make sense, but i guess thats why i play SC not run it ;)

I read an article somewhere that said the price is:

previous week's price x 75% + price based on previous 3 weeks' average points x "magic number" (something around $5000) x 25%

So if last week he was $400,000 and his average over the last 3 weeks = 100 then:

$400,000 x 75% = $300,000 +

100 x $5,000 = $500,000 x 25% = $125,000

so, new price = $425,000

I don't know if the article was accurate however the rough calculation seems to work closely enough to the real price changes.

Yeah dreamteam is weird with price updates sometimes, I do know that the magic number does change during the year to accomodate all the rookies price hikes. This website usually has a few good pointers and info on breakevens and price changes
