No guts no glory

Postby whufc » Wed Apr 28, 2010 11:06 am

Im playing a team that scored thirty more points than me last week and is averaging 50 more a game, i do have the benefit of having Boyd come back into the side and Maguire comes of the bench for Nason. I don't want to use any trades this week.

Now what im thinking is most people would expect Geelong to thump Richmond and more than likely be up by a decent amount by half time, both teams have Gablett as captain, should i change captain in the hope that Geelong belt the hapless Tigers and Bomber uses this as a chance to give Gablett limited game time and run a few other players through the midfield for an extended period. It's a massive risk BUT could pay massive rewards and give me the upset victory.

Im thinking Montagna maybe a good selection for Captain in perfect conditions under the dome in a game which should be a high possesion quick tempo game. Don't think the Bulldogs will have anyone trying to tag Montagna this week. Just a thought anyway.

The first time I saw that banner was in the Geelong rooms before the 1994 Grand Final and we all know how that turned out.

Is this for SC or DT?

I would (maybe) consider it for SC, but probably not for DT.

It's super dangerous to bank on Ablett scoring badly v Richmond to win your match. Or to hope that Bomber takes him off after half time.

I think just leave the (c) on him and hope for luck to fall your way with the other match-ups.

He will rack up 150 points against Richmond in a half anyway, so you'll still be on a winner.

No
Well you haven't seen everything then have you.

Gazza dominates SC to a greater extent than he does DT because of his ability to win the contested ball. If anything it's the other way around.

he will be over 100 (double points including) by half time and highly doubt he will sit a half of footy off, i see where you are coming from because your sides are similar and you might not get up.. if are a gambling man do it if not you wont fail a decent score with gaz (unless injuries).

I was thinking about the weighting SC gives to stats gained when the game is there to be won. Seeing as this game will be over in about 15 minutes the stats gained later have less impact. I'm probably putting too much thought in to it though and perhaps the weighting isn't significant enough to matter.

Probably of greater concern is Bomber sitting Ablett on the bench for long periods as punishment for entertaining the idea of going to the Gold Coast. ;)

fwiw, GAJ is my SC captain each and every week (after learning my lesson earlier this season)
