Riewoldt OUT - ??? IN

It's a no-brainer, you gotta trade him out, no way you can have $600K sitting on your bench for three months.
If you haven't got big Jono Brown, now is the time. Then there is O'Keefe, another solid option.
Maybe you've got those two already. Chapman, Goodes, even Pavlich are in contention. Take a risk on the up-and-down Pie pair in Didak and Davis perhaps
You could even save some cash by punting on Higgins, Rioli, Byrnes , Grundy or Harvey.
Or maybe you have some other strategy???

I have an idea, probably crazy, but here goes.
I already have Brown, O'Keefe and Goodes. With a fit and firing Reiwoldt in there I would gaze at my forward line and feel a tingling sensation in my nether region. Now I am lost and the sensation is gone.
I figure I could get happy again by bringing Chappy in. Yes, his hamstrings are a risk, but hey, if he gets me tons in the next dozen games, and then twang, so be it, I'll keep the trade there for it.
OR,
I could trade Rooey down to a rookie like Podsiadly, my forward line would have Brown, O'Keefe, Goodes, Hall, Ziebell, Warren and Rockliff [EMG: R Roberts and Podsiadly].
Okay, it's looking a little weaker now, but I figure I could use the spare $500 to upgrade my rookie Mids when they price peak, thus creating a gun midfield full of premiums all at the expense of one forward premium. No double trades to make cash, just straight upgrades.
Hmmm, gonna have to think this one over a bit.

With a LTI to a premium I pick the next best player I can afford. That way my structure and points scoring is protected and it's the easiest way of getting the otherwise too expensive alternative.
If you trade right down to a rookie you commit yourself to a second trade down the track to then re-upgrade in that position. I think protect the second trade and just pick another premium.
Quichey, you sure did have a forward line to take to bed with you! How does ROK, JB, Goodes and Pavlich look instead? Also, REB can confirm but I'm not certain on Pods' job security over time.
I don't have JB so he's coming into my team - I'll have ROK, JB, Goodes, Gray, Hall, Ziebell, car-crash-Tippett. Gets me mildly excited in the nether region but nothing to write home about. I will give Rockliff and Podsiadly another week to have a look and then consider downgrading Tippett.

I have Brown, Byrnes, Pavlich, Higgins, Roughead & Hall.
Hitchcock and Roberts on the bench.
I am thinking of waiting for a week or two for Didak's & Stevie J's price to bottom out.
In the meantime pick up Podsiadly for Roberts hoping he holds his form from his first game as I see more upside in Podsiadly than Roberts.
I would then be replacing Riewoldt with Podsiadly in my starting line up with Hitchcock as an emergency.

True, but going Roo to a rookie, means I have loads of cash for upgrades elsewhere.
The way I see it is, I'm not convinced on any of the premium forwards leftover. I do, however, think there are better prospects to be found in the midfield. My line of thought is that a Martin upgraded to a Boyd or Selwood and a Bastinac upgraded to a Judd or Hayes achieves a long term goal in the short term AND they are better premium prospects than any of the other forwards I don't have.

Would be a good way to go if Podsiadly was going to be a regular in the Geelong lineup.
He could easily be back to the VFL this week with Mooney returning.

Pods and Rockliff have poor job security and Roberts can't get the pill. You could have yourself a 500k donut in the forward line.

Yeah, it's a fair point. It's whether having so much cash on your bench for however many weeks you intend to wait will cost you any league games. Also whether you end up cashing in Martin too early to compensate.
I think it's more Pods as your downgrade option that's the worry. There's still Peterson and Duncan available with only one price rise.

Yeah, was only using Pods as an example. Although we're not blessed with Rookie downgrade options.
Tough decision. Hondo is right, I'd be waiting around with money in the bank just for these rookies to peak in price.

Maybe the day he starts to use two hands to play football. Tends to butcher it a bit.

I'm going to wait until Goodes is a bit cheaper and bring him in when a rookie peaks. I'm running with the crowd and getting Brown this week. I was thinking of holding Riewoldt for one more week to get a better look at Podsiadly and Rockliff when I could downgrade Riewoldt to whichever one looks best and trade Tippet for Brown. Unfortunately Brown's breakeven means I really have to bite the bullet this week. Hate using a trade so early but not much can be done about it I suppose.

I'd go with Pavlich in that situation.

I had $600,000 spare in the bank (hence my low scores!), and got Chapman in this week.

I traded Riewoldt for Rockliffe, this enabled me to trade Connors for Hodge and with plenty of change left over.
