33 per cent of coaches in both SC and DT own him now.
That number is likely to rise as the weekend nears.
Question is, will you pick him up this week and revel in his steep price climb after round three?
For Dream Team, I'm thinking yeah. Sounds good.
For SC however, I reckon I'm going to stay away.
Why?
My midfield currently consists of:
Bryce Gibbs
Adam Goodes
Ben McGlynn
Andrew Swallow
Jimmy Bartel
Bernie Vince
EMG: Brodie Moles, Dustin Martin
Moles smashed a 90 in his first game, while Martin is averaging about 70-odd.
Two good rookies IMO.
Barlow has played two good games, is talk of the town.
Will he get closer attention from the opposition?
Will he continue his meteoric rise or flop like Beau Muston ala 2009?
Yes, the financial gains are there, but they will also be there with Martin and Moles.
I'm going to save the trade.

That's why you always come near last each season in Supercoach

Martin and Moles are two very good picks. Martin should hold his spot in the team, Moles could be in and out*. I had my eye on Moles as someone to bring into the team when cashing in a cash cow, so I'm kinda hoping he gets dropped
I would love to compare the % of coaches who had Barlow at the start Round 2 to the % that have him at the start of this round.

If you've already got 2 reasonable bench players in SC then it's a 50/50 shot I reckon. Barlow is the talk of the first 2 rounds but doesn't mean he'll go the distance, mind you the fact that he's 21 and been playing senior footy for a couple of years already makes be think he'll be able to avoid the usual 'first year blues'.

Barlow is due for a price rise of $160,000 in one round before round 4
I think you have to get him if you don't already have him. He could easily be $400K+ by round 6

if he tails off after that well who cares because you are well on the way to upgrading him to a gun midfielder $600K+. If he does work out, you've got yourself a midfielder averaging around 100 as a keeper.
It's worth the rookie-rookie trade (normally a no-no) in this instance. Or swap him for an under-performing mid-pricer.

Barlow won't score a hundred every week but if you don't pick him up your opponent will hurt you whenever he does. The kid is outscoring Gary Ablett FFS.

Think his price went up about 80K on DT tonight, much quieter game this week for him though

Watch his upcoming break even score as he may turn out to be one to cash in at the right price

Ling tagged him out of the game, Barlow is injury free AFAIK. It's the 379 other players that are injured or suspended we have to worry about...

Ling tagged Barlow for part of the game only so it's not just a heavy tag that reduced his numbers. Barlow has been 'batting above his average' all season but it's a different kettle of fish up against Geelong and next week's opponent St Kilda.
I believe that this week will see Barlow card another lowish score before his numbers begin to climb again. More experienced players than Micheal Barlow have carded low scores against the Cat and Saints midfielders.
Some people would have burnt a trade by bringing him in last week and a few more coaches might even trade him out again after the next round in the mistaken belief that he might have jumped the shark. Seeing as I got him before the season started then I hope they do.

REB

I expect he'll be the last midfielder I upgrade BUT if there's an opportunity earlier to get from Barlow (at a max price) to a real gun like Swan, Murphy Montagna or Dal Santo with an upgrade I don't think you would regret trading him out. Those elite midfielders averaging 120 are so important.
